That is a super back loaded contract. Year 5 he'll count 13.5m against the cap, despite his contract ending after 4 years.
But with the cap coming down, probably a lot, this year it makes sense. Cap hit this year will be a bit over 22m. Next year will be a 33m hit and they'll be praying that league revenues bounce back big time. The 40m hits in 23 and 24 will hurt, but will be prime candidates for a restructure, pushing even more money to those voidable years. Cowboys have thought ahead on that one - the contract is 6 years (last 2 voiding) even though the max proration period is 5 years, clearly expecting to want to convert salary to roster bonus in the future.
Honestly, I don't think this is a terrible deal for the cowboys. As long as Dak comes back from injury 100% and the league revenues recover next year this contract is probably a narrow win for the cowboys.

The Seahawks Russell Wilson phoney war continues. Russ says he doesn't want to be traded, but provides a list of teams he is willing to be traded to. And the Hawks send the season ticket holders a letter talking about next season and there is no mention of Wilson. I know it will never happen, but you are welcome in SF Russ, and we can offer you better protection than Seattle

As expected, Drew Brees retires

Prudent. His arm was shot. Thomas will be happy. So will they get Russell Wilson?
-
Deshaun Watson's big payday is now goooorrrrrn
and, if all this shit is true, fucking good job.
-
@mariner4life huh? He signed a 4 year $160 million extension last year with $111 million guaranteed.

apologies, clumsy wording. he wants out. he's unlikely to get that now. how's that guarantee if he gets a suspension?
-
@mariner4life True. However, i'd wait and see how this plays out. These are civil lawsuits, not criminal lawsuits and the lawyer involved has quite the reputation.

If these claims were stronger, surely the victims would press for a criminal trial?

Means nothing to me but may interest NFL followers?
An alternate reality where rugby is as popular as American football in the States.

@daffy-jaffy the locks look a bit short to me. 3 of the 4 are 1.93m and the 4th is 1.96m. Someone like DeForest Buckner at 2.01m would be a better bet.

locks will be tough
Pope from the Cardinals at 2.03 and pair him with Kelce (who is way too fucking tall to play 12 at 1.96)
And Vonn miller is playing openside too
-
@mariner4life Kelce's hands would be useful in the lineout

yep.
if i am combining the teams, i am picking that safety from Tampa that hits like a truck in my midfield as well. Along with henry at 13.
Hill is getting a wing. DK Metcalf is getting a wing. Whoever the best punt returner is gets 15. Let's face it, kicking is going to be an issue. Wilson at 10 is a good shout.
-
There might be some handy 10s amongst the punters.

Wow.
49ers have traded up to the number 3 spot in the Draft.
49ers will be taking a QB with that pick.
I am very happy.
Jimmy G is made of glass. The key now is to see the future and pick the best QB in the draft not named Trevor Laurence. History shows that you don't need the number 1 pick to get the best NFL QBs. Gotta pick the guy with the chip on his shoulder

@canefan the best QB not named Lawrence will go to the Jets at 2 (Zach Wilson).
The good news for the 49ers is there are still QB options at 3. A lot more than at 12.
That's the best on paper. Finding the next Brady or Rodgers is much more difficult
