Who said light wind racing couldn't be exciting? Might be the most exciting AC race ever

We almost dropped down at least 3 or 4 times. Looking well in hand now. Deano isn't on board so there will be no nose dive finish

One last tack towards the finish. What a race. A lesson in never giving up

The grinders deserve a beer tonight. If they didn't have racing tomorrow 🙂

The way the boat sits so nose low is stressful when falling off is a possibility

And TNZ was due some luck after that race in SF.

When they shortened the race and then the time limit came into play it felt like de ja vu

This thread makes for a hilarious read back. ETNZ go from chumps to champs to chimps to champs with every gybe and tack.

I've only just watched both races - without knowing the results - and then read the thread. All of the ups and downs very apparent.

How an event can go from one of the dullest ever (was getting very predictable), to one of the most exciting in one day (two wins from starboard entry was about as good as it got previously to break the monotony).
    Then today:
First an actual pass, and then boats stalled in the doldrums, which somehow became exciting. WTF. Bizarre and stressful entertainment.

That fat lady sure loves the Americas cup - "I'm going to sing now. Nah fuck it, I'll wait a bit".

Huge mistake by LR in 8. Had they altered to safety first mode and just focussed on staying on foils they ought to have won that.

@pakman they'd been foiling no problems at all but saw the light patch in the last few seconds before they sailed into it.

TNZ were in a different situation they fell off because the gybe was the wrong manouevere. LR had no wind at all.

Man the TNZ grinders looked dead at the end.

TNZ seemed to take no chances once they saw LR becalmed.

But the gybe looked right in the heat of the moment.

Bit of a lottery if wind under 7 knots!

Going to be another one of those days by the looks. Only 7-11knots forecast but WSW so might offer the opportunity to race on course C off north head

Some interesting comments about LR deliberately going outside the course boundary in their attempt to get back on the foils. While you take a distance penalty it isn't a big deal when you are so far behind, and start foiling again. I wonder what the race committee would have done if TNZ had problems again on the final leg and LR had passed them?
