NPC - news, injuries etc

@Bovidae I think we all accept that, just rather than the "Mitre 10 Cup" it could have been the "Mitre 10 NPC"...the former sounds like a carpentry comp where the latter sounds like they are sponsoring a rugby comp
like they do for super rugby, same logo with a different name across the top

So they're doing a survey about the proposed change, but they don't ask the questionwhether you agree with the proposed change. The only thing they're looking at is whether you'd watch more games, or not.
Why would they need to do a survey about that?
I'd think they'd have quite detailed data around viewing figures for closely matched teams vs mismatches - and games where significant league outcomes hang on results - and where the games are largely meaningless because one or both teams are out of contention for the finals or danger of relegation.
-
I agree with you, but it was the Air NZ Cup from 2006, then become the ITM Cup and lastly the Mitre 10 Cup. No one ever accused rugby suits to have an imagination.

National Provincial Championship doesn't mean much; it could be in any country.
I'd prefer NZ Provincial Championship. Or Provincial Rugby Aotearoa. That's much clearer.not inherently but it did pick up some meaning before the "cup" era, I talk to rugby people in the UK and they often know the NPC is the NZ domestic comp, like the US sport with NFL, NHL etc
-
@Stargazer given the vast majority of eyeballs on the NPC will be kiwis or rugby fans knowing it is the NZ NPC, I dont think it is much of an issue.
Pretty sure in the UK it had NZ as part of the title?

Until NZR got too tricky with the naming rights.

@Nepia I know, but if they're going to make changes anyway, they may as well pick another name, too. Have no strong preferrence either way. Frankly, I couldn't care less what it's called, as long as we don't get the proposed format with a North & South division.

Apparently Matt Letoga has left Canterbury and is going to BOP. He was in the crusaders academy but has finished his 3 years. Had a great first year in chch , but never really improved after that.
-
@chchfanatic Do you know whether Michael Naitokani (former Hastings Boys winger) is in the Canterbury Academy?
-
Haven't seen it mentioned, but Brett Cameron has signed for Manawatu.
-
And Manawatu this week have also just appointed their first female CEO.

Yes he is in the Canterbury system and the Crusaders Academy played for Canterbury in the 2019 u/19 side.

@Chris Thanks. Great to hear he's doing well. Not so great he's doing well in another province. The downside of our 1st XVs doing well, and other provinces/franchises noticing.
Not for the players...
