Have they had the presser yet where Kyrie throws all the other team mates under the bus? And management?

They actually played okay for their first game. Kyrie and KD got plenty of shots. Harden got plenty of dribbles.
They had a few issues on their pick n roll defence, but Cavs do not shoot 20/40 from 3 on many nights. And they weren’t all wide open shots either.

exactly. obviously i didn't watch (on this, are there less games on ESPN now?) but the first gig together is always going to be tough. and it looked a crazy game. box score wise they all did pretty well.

ESPN showed a couple of games today. They have at least 5-6 each week. SBS Viceland also show 2-3 a week also.

Get more shots for Joe Harris 😉
Bump....
Joe Harris had a very good game today.

Lakers lose back to back games for the first time this season.
Heat are in a funk. No Jimmy Butler, but the effort just isn’t there. They lost to a Leonard and George less Clippers. They’ve lost their last 5 are now 6-12.
Rockets on a mini 4 game winning streak after coming back from 20 today. Shout out to Tate (played for the Sydney Kings last year) who has been starting for the Rockets and playing well. Victor and Wall starting to play better. Boogie is putting in too.
Here’s a not so nice stat - Bradley Beal becomes the first player in NBA history to lose 10 straight games when he has scored 40 or more points. Ouch. I like Beal, but I think he made a bit of a mistake signing that massive extension.
-
Steven Adams had a career high 20 boards tonight. 10 of those offensive boards. He probably played the most minutes in a game for a while too (38). He was huge in creating opportunities for a really balanced scoring game for the Pelicans.
Zion looked fluent. Ball and Bledsoe played their best fame together and shot the ball very well. Ingram did his thing and Hart hit shots.
Huge win for them and to score 130+ against the Bucks who are a very good defensive side.
-
LOL at the Nets
Simultaneously the best offence, and worst defense of all time. Score 140+ against the fucking Wizards in regulation and lose?

Mark this post down for discussion in a few months, but I'm struggling a bit with this regular season. In reality, we are killing time until we get Lakers/Nets in the Finals. Aren't we??!?
Sure, the Clippers could get their act together but they are the only realistic challengers in the west. The east is a bit more competitive, with the Celtics, Sixers and Bucks all in with a hope.
But I watched the Nets over the weekend, and they just have too much talent. They will work the defence out in time. I forgot just how good Durant could be. I struggle to see how they are knocked off in a 7 game series by anyone other than Lebron.
-
yeah, it's like a couple of years back where we just waited for LeBron v the Warriors
I think the East is actually very competitive, and i am not yet willing to pick that winner. If the Nets can find the capital to add a couple of defensive role players, then it's a lock.
ECF is surely an all LA game unless they fuck up the regular season and end up on the same side of the finals draw.
It really does feel more and more like the regular season doesn't matter

Yeah you'd think they could find a few ring-chasing veterans around buyout time.
I've been impressed by the Celtics and by the Sixers. For all the 'trade Ben Simmons' talk the team is clicking as good as I've ever seen it, thanks mainly to good form by Embiid and Harris. But that's all facilitated by Simmons.
People potting Simmons because he isn't a big scorer miss the point. The obsession with shooting leads us to the cult of Russell Westbrook, racking up big numbers but at the expense of winning games. Simmons decline in PPG this season could be viewed as a positive, if it means guys like Seth Curry and Harris are getting more shots in better positions.
-
there's a big difference between wanting a guy to shoot all the time, and bagging a guy for not shooting when he the only open guy.
But they have found the mix that works, and are sitting pretty at the top.
-
East is def not a lock yet. Bucks, Nets, Celts and Philly all in it.
Simmons gets a hard time, but it is pretty amazing his reluctance to shoot. He actually shies away from the all in crunch time for fear of being fouled, thats not ideal. Embiid is the heater and soul of that team and should be MVP fav right now

The mechanics of his shot is still a problem. I wonder if he can do a Tony Parker....
This regular season is even more weird and I reckon by the playoffs it will be some form of bubble.
The only real positive thing about that Nets v Wizards game was there was a glimpse of that killer instinct Russ back. Sure the Wizards have issues and they are missing some key guys, but I actually like that Russ. He’s got edge and the NBA needs that IMO.

It was the way that Ben played those final possessions that showed a glaringly obvious flaw in his current game. I’m a fan, but if he is going to be in the game when it’s on the line in the final minutes/seconds, what is his role? He’s dribbling up the top, I’m defending and playing way off him. If he’s off the ball he’s either clogging the paint or he’s a non-issue on the wings and his man can go help defend.
It’s a problem
