NBA Season - now 24/25
-
Not sure how long they can keep this regular season going like this. Postponed games every night, teams barely scraping 8 players, results being skewed by significant outs, some big minutes being forced on some players, new restrictions on players, coaches and support staff.
I reckon they shorten the season to 45-50 games.
-
Anyone else watch Nets v Magic yesterday? Harden with an opening game 30 point TD. Loved Steve Nash post game press conference “he definitely stuffed the star sheet. He almost got a quadruple double”. Harden had 9 turnovers 😀
Harden at least looked interested and played decent defence. Some of the turnovers were errant passes which you could put down to lack of chemistry. He worked well with Jeff Green. KD was at his efficient best with 42 points on only 26 shots. Harris was hitting too.
If Kyrie comes back there is a very good ‘small ball’ lineup of KD, Green, Harris, Kyrie and Harden to close out games. Throw Shamet into the mix if you want more shooting and depending on the opposition.

the schedule now has more postponed games than those played. Some teams are just hammered, it's a complete sham at this point.
But i don't think the league can afford to not play can they? No league can.

@ACT-Crusader it's certainly an interesting experiment.
question. Trade Kyrie?
-
@mariner4life I don’t think they can stop it completely, but the schedule needs a serious look at.
Today the Knicks beat the Celtics by 30. No Tatum and whilst Kemba and Teague were back they were on minute restrictions. Offence was all over the show.

you didn't even need to delve in to the stats to know how restricted the Celtics were. Getting blown out by the Nicks, and posting a small score, you knew they weren't at full strength.
Aren't the Heat severely impacted as well?

Absolutely. I've been banging this drum for a while. They don't need his offense, but they sure need some defense. They probably can't get Simmons now for him, but even Dort from OKC plus picks would be a great trade.

they shot 7-46 for 3!
NBA Regular Season, no fucking thanks

Who will take on Kyrie right now? Plus if they are actively talking to any teams and they can’t find a team then Kyrie will probably do an AD and spit the dummy and not play.
I think they hope for the best and that he comes back and buys in.
Kyrie on the wing without the ball handling responsibilities could be awesome for the Nets. As long as Harden takes a bit of time off his own dancing with the ball.

ah the mythical Ben Simmons. Is Simmons going to go anywhere to be a defensive role player who can pass? because that's all he is, even if he doesn't want to admit it. And how much are you willing to pay for that?
-
The Sixers one won’t happen.

Look, I really dislike Simmons, but how absolutely PERFECT is that for a team with Harden, KD and Joe Harris? Imagine him running the break, finding KD in transition or a trailing Harden/Harris?
At the moment KD is their best defender - they don't need him wearing down over the playoffs because he's on Tatum for 40mins, then LeBron in the finals.
I reckon I'd look closely at Dort - great defender, shoots the 3 at > 40%. Would OKC take a punt on Kyrie for him? Pretty wild fall from grace for Kyrie if they didnt.

agree, 3 weeks ago I'd have said it would be a go, but Kyrie isn't helping himself

Jeff Green and Harris aren’t bad defenders. Green is definitely someone that can play on Giannis or Lebron

Pop quiz for you, how many teams has Jeff Green been on? Don't include Seattle becoming OKC as 2 teams

Without consulting google I can think of Celtics (twice), Cavs, Nets, Grizzlies, Rockets, Sonics/Thunder, Clippers, Magic
-
Missed two, he played with the Wizards and Jazz in between Cavs and Rockets.
-
@ACT-Crusader yep, 10 teams in 12 seasons. Its pretty "impressive"!

Second highest amongst active players. Ish Smith has played for 11 and has been in the league a few seasons less than Green.
Nothing beats Jimmy Jackson though. Didn’t he move around after it all went sour at the Mavs.
