Greg sounds like he regrets underarm 81 to this day
I bet he does, it generated so much controversy for nothing. I mean I wasn't actually alive when it happened but it still pisses me off. And the chances of him actually hitting a 6 on those massive boundaries with an old bat were almost zero.
I was 8. What people forget was the hometown umpires, who fucked us by failing to give Martin Snedden's catch of Chappell in the deep among other things. It will live forever in notoriety and adds to the idea that Australia are dirty, along with Dyer the Liar, Michael Clarke telling Anderson he was going to have his arm broken, sandpaper etc

Rohit Sharma's interesting stat
Home average: ๐ด๐ด.๐ฏ๐ฏ
Away average: ๐ฎ๐ณ.๐ฑ๐ด
๐๐ข๐๐๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐๐: Steven Smith's test avg + 1.32The worst average margin (home-away) in test cricket history.
Look up Anil Kumble bowling average Home V Away - it basically doubles
Was that pre neutral umpires?
I recall being impressed at how decisive umpires were from footage of his 10fer, I mean some of the shouts must have been so out the umpire's finger went up almost before the appeal ...
(You'd think it was Daryl Hare and Shane Warne ... )

Short memories around the place, Tim Paine was MoTM just two tests ago! Has the second highest batting average of any Aussie keeper (behind Gilchrist), and despite a tough few hours is still as good a gloveman as we have.
Banter was a bit much late, but they were pushing to win a crucial test, been in the field all day, and it was more annoying than offensive. Happy to give him the benefit of the doubt given his track record so far.
I missed this earlier in the week. How did we get here? Australia have their own Lee Germon (and the public and pundits are violently defending him).
This is the same team that saw Waugh and Taylor go out to bat series after series (winning at the same clip or better than this side) with the selectors effectively having sniper lasers tracking them every time they went out to bat and constant media headlines saying this was their last series/match if they didn't deliver?
I'm certainly not complaining as a NZer, but it is something I never thought we would see.

Indeed. Christ we have an embarrassing inferiority complex when it comes to Australia. That โincidentโ should have been forgotten decades ago.

Donโt know how to. Can some nerd on here do it ?
Stats like this make all the bleating from the Bobs and Vagene crew about how our KW only scores at home extremely laughable. ( at last count 11 tons away, 13 at home, thatโs a decent split )

I'm mostly nerd, but it's in the 'test career summary
dropdown on Cricinfo's page.Shows 350 wickets at home at 25, with 270 away at 35. So not awesome, but not bad consdiering.

I might be thinking of someone else rather than Kumble OR I was looking at his stats versus Australia:
Average: In India - 24.46, in Australia- 37.73. Both datasets are 10 matches.
Interestingly, when you do the same analysis with Warne it is even more stark just how India liked facing him (and got a shot at him early in his career, too):
Average: In India - 43.11 (9 matches), in Australia - 62.55 (5 matches).

So can we surmise that Warne was quite shite against India then ?
-
@NTA said in Australia v India:
@MN5 I don't think he took many wickets early on, and probably didn't have enough pizza shops available on the subcontinent
Every greats stats can be picked apart to some extent. I donโt think itโs possible for an individual to excel against absolutely everyone.
They do have a point about Warne though, I do remember him struggling against them before he made it big.

Hoff gets Pujara's wicket with a good delivery.

it was outstanding. What a bowler. THis bowling attack is relentless - not many teams are going to get 500 against them. Strong as oxen as well, no real injuries all series

@Siam said in Australia v India:
@nzzp yeah, there are times when a batsman must concede he's done nothing wrong and the bowler has nailed it. That Pujara wicket was one such instance
Some days Pujara plays that shot over and over and it finds the middle of the stick. Some days it gets a ball like that.

Hazlewood is effortless through the crease and it.sings down at 140
And bang he gets another. What a bowler.
Fucking shit shot again dick head piss off
