    @Tim transfer fee? Or is that mid-term contract break fee?

    Did whoever did thier budgeting just think the likes of Luatua, PIutau et al would return for the love of it?

    Not all SR franchises seem to start their preseason - together - at the same time. From what I've seen on social media, Highlanders and Crusaders players aren't all back on home base yet. They're clearly training hard, but not all of them in Dunedin or Chch. Ta$man players like M Hunt, L Faingaanuku, D Havili, Segner etc all in the same gym. Mataele in Hamilton, Hall still up north.

    I wish the franchises would post more photos and videos. Blues have been good, and Chiefs have posted a few photos, but the rest ....

    I'm having rugby withdrawal symptoms (esp because there's no 7s, either).

    Don't panic - Super startsin about 6 weeks right? It's nuts, but modern rugby calendar...

    Yeah we would normally have had a couple of full days of rugby (albeit sevens) from Dubai and SA by now and NZ and Aus would be coming up soon.

    What??? I can't wait that long, I think I've posted twice in cricket threads ... that's my quota. I might have to rejoin the politics section at this rate.

    It's actually 7 weeks to Super Rugby Aotearoa.

    6 weeks to Super Rugby Aus.

    I've got quite a few of these old Terry McLean books that I'm slowly working through.

    Whole AB tours that I know little about! 🙂

    Replying to @Bovidae 's post here, because it's of interest to all NZ franchises:

    @Bovidae said in Chiefs 2021:

    The Chiefs will already be running with one assistant coach less than last year, following the departure of Tabai Matson. McMillan confirmed Neil Barnes (forwards), Nick White (set pieces) and Roger Randle (attack) would continue with their same portfolios, while he and David Hill will split the defensive duties, with Hill also continuing his work with the kickers.

    So the Chiefs won't replace Matson and the Crusaders won't replace Jones.

    What's the situation at the Highlanders? I'm drawing a blank; they've lost both Mauger and Hammett, but who have come in?

    The Hurricanes have lost Spencer and hired a rookie coach (who presumably earns lower wages) in Bleyendaal.

    Have the Blues lost one of their coaches?

    @Stargazer

    Blues have kept their coaching team together for 2021.

    The Blues know a good thing when they've got it building, and have locked in their five-strong coaching group for at least one more Super Rugby season.

    The franchise confirmed ahead of this week's squad announcement for 2021 (7am Thursday) that their entire coaching group had reupped for next season at least as they look to make further ground in the wake of their 2020 breakthrough.

    Haha - sounds like Chiefs had 6 coaches last year and have dropped to 5 whereas Blues have stayed at 5.

    It's about time. Pat Lam had fewer coaches than everyone else at the time... Couldn't get money out of the board. Also had no good training facility, etc... We've come a long way

    Hatiest!!!

    It's not 3 halves! It's 3 times specific periods, otherwise known as thirds.

    @Hooroo They actually play two (40-minute) halves, each. So there are three halves to be played.

    But it is three 40 minute segments.
