Jamieson is just incredible. Gets a bit of swing, plenty of seam, lots of extra bounce, and hits a great length consistently. He's a nightmare to play in tests.

Jamieson just can’t stay out of the action!

Good call by Kane to give the guy who is red hot the ball an early spell.

Boult leaking runs here. Both pakistani runs from him after seven overs.

    Boult’s been dragged 😉

Sure but I reckon I even might have worked that one out.

Looked a bit high but it was back pad so I reckon was going to be umpires call, but saved by the faintest of edges.

    What a delivery though.

Is it time to think about giving Kyle the new ball and dropping Boult or Southee to three?

It feels weird saying this but Boult is regressing just as much as Taylor.

I don't reckon he's an automatic pick for our all time XI any more ( actually not sure I ever did )

The average has snuck over 28 just as Southees has dropped to about this.......obviously Jamieson starting ridiculously well and Wags being Wags is helping paper the cracks a bit but maybe it's a bit concerning ?

@Baron-Silas-Greenback will be struggling with one of his boys ( Southee ) going so well while the other ( Boult ) isn't.

If he keeps it up it is only a question of when

If the coms are correct about the lacquer on the ball when it is brand new inhibiting some of the swing then we are probably better waiting a few overs before Kyle gets it and it has a bit of a "rough" side.

What is his average against left handers now? It was under 5 but now he has another one. It's bloody nuts.

Think about it, coz hes that impressive, but it's a no from me. I think the sum of all parts is better with threats from 3rd and 4th seamers (Jamieson and Wagner), as well as openers.

Matt Henry is proof that slotting in random opening swing bowlers as 3rd or 4th seamer doesnt work.

It's just crazy that Kyle has such a good record already and hasn't bowled with the new ball yet once.

Cricinfo is tweeting every 5 minutes about Kane being the best and it's sending Indian fans into overdrive. I'm certain they are doing it for the reaction

The Bobs and Vagene crowd can go fuck themselves. They don’t have a god given right to the best batsmen in the world and they should recognise the little master for what he is. 11 out of his 24 test tons have been scored overseas so their broken English retarded comments that he ‘only scores at home’ are utter bullshit, at one stage this was 11 out of 19 so I think he can be forgiven for plundering a few runs in his own backyard.

Just as well it's a while to the next test, CDG might struggle to regain his place otherwise. I thought we were in good shape when we suddenly got Neesham and Corey Anderson at the same time, but Mitchell, CDG and Jamieson have come along since then, and Neesham is still around and wreaking havoc in shorter forms.

Meanwhile, Nicholls and Latham have really settled in, Watling is fantastic and Southee, Boult and Wagner are amazing, so we've got a batting line up and bowling line up where new guys aren't under pressure to deliver because the team is stacked to the rafters, and they are responding by being able to play more freely, and we can take time to develop them.

Imagine you're a new cap going into that dressing room, and you've Kane for technique, Latham and Nicholls for a newer perspective and Ross Taylor with all the experience. Watling knows his way round a bat and is one of the world's best at batting with the tail, so can share that as well.

Have to roll the arm over? No problems, Southee, Boult and Wagner will take you under their wing and show you all the tricks.

Someone having a tough patch? No problem, the team will deliver. Am I worried about Taylor and Boult's current form? A bit, but the rest of the team is delivering currently, and when Nicholls and Southee are having a lean patch, I'm sure Taylor and Boult will be firing again.

I know we're not quite that good, but this reminds me of the Aussie teams under Waugh and Ponting - just an absolute conveyor belt of talent waiting in the wings.

    Good info.

I'd still like to see the maths though.

How do they work out the tv rights worth etc. Is that included in this figure? Or just the attendance etc. What about day-night tests etc.

The original article was behind a paywall but I have found the Stuff article. Wigmore is very complimentary to NZ, and the majority of his article is more about doing more with less (money).

Part of the reason for the large financial loss in tests outside of playing the big 3 will be the income derived from TV broadcasting. Compare what India will pay to the Pakistan broadcaster.
