@No-Quarter I'm referring to the fact that the boks are still #1 in Rugby despite playing no tests recently, while the BCs are #1 in cricket because none of the others have played tests recently
Let us have our moment and kindly get lost. Thanks.
I'm actually interested to see what the effect of India/Australia is on the rankings.
If Australia convincingly beat India in series, and NZ whitewashes Pakistan in our 2 test series, then NZ will be ranked 2, and Australia 1, and play in the final of the WTC in June/July.
I don't know what the measure of "convincingly beat " actually is though.
Apparently NZ must whitewash. That's fair enough.....an standard Aussie test team of the last 20 years probably is about as good as our best team ever. Makes sense.

And if India win the series I suppose they pick up more points for being away?

Dunno. But anything other than permutation above mean Aus and India are 1 and 2, and meet in final.

Aus giving India a hiding would be worth it just to see the Bobs and Vagene crew on the Wisden FB page have a collective meltdown.

Shit yeah - especially if all the DRS don't go their way. And then there will be a bombardment of "Next Sachin Tendulkar" offerings from players who love a dirt pitch in Outer Shittigar.

@NTA I'm assuming it will be the same as this West Indies series in that all the Umpires will be home umpires?
they are rolling Daryl Hair and Peter Parker out to guarantee victory

I was going to say there is a little bit of cheat tucked away in every Australian....

40th anniversary of the underarm incident next year.....in terms of overreaction compared to what actually happened I genuinely struggle to think of anything that compares in the sporting world but I still may as well get on the bandwagon and hurl abuse at @NTA for the simple fact he’s Australian.

So are we number one ranked at the moment?
That’s 2020 for ya...

RWC2007 forward pass and the ongoing vilification of Wayne Barnes.

you bring that up far more than we do
the underarm was effectively a war crime.

I do these days - between RWC2007 and RWC2011 whenever Wayne Barnes got mentioned on here it started to get a little bit sketchy...

So are we number one ranked at the moment?
Equal number 1 with Aus.
Only if the ranking numbers are "rounded"... as soon as you look into the actual workings, we're still second.
Australia - 116.45
New Zealand - 116.37- or something like that.... I looked into it this morning, but had a few beers at lunch, and too lazy to re-check.
