Unlucky Players not to get a SR Contract
-
@Machpants Tamati Tua was on the Blues Radar , but is booked in to have surgery this week and will not be returning until the start of the 2021 Mitre 10 Cup..
Northland Skipper Jordon Olsen is a tad unlucky was outstanding during the Mitre 10 Cup campaign, but like Tony Lamborn who has represented the USA, Olsen played international rugby for Canda last year ..In my opinion , the 2 unluckiest players not to pick up super contracts are Adrian Choat and Lincoln Mclutchie
If Salesi Rayasi was Auckland’s best player , then Choat was the next best ..as for Mclutchie , I am still trying to figure this one out , the man has X Factor , and can open up any defence

@Machpants Which theory is that?
Any theory supported by Ken
Edit: is probably a fake tweet tho, he didn't mention which schools McClutchie went to

How old is Bryn Evans ? I have nothing against him as he is solid and experienced but the likes of Parsons, Cridge and Tucker are surely very disappointed.
And what about Dalzell ? Off to Japan ?
K. Boshier and S. Parker were already contracted but they can feel lucky as players like Roots and Choat were outstanding during the M10 Cup IMO and would have been excellent choices. -

He shouldn’t be there ahead of his two teammates or any of the spate of locks leaving the country. (Agreed, nothing against Evans, he was awesome for the Magpies in his heyday).
WTF kind of system sees Hickey and Evans get spots but not McClutchie and Parsons.
And there’s no way fatty Savea is one of the top midfielders in the country.

Fatty Savea is in as an outside back, even worse! He may well be playing an Argentinian ChocolateBar as a fellow ‘midfielder’ - dangerous combo

@taniwharugby Kind of annoying to read a press article that doesn't mention a player (Tua) having a serious operation like a shoulder reconstruction.
-
@Tim I expect Cully just went over a list of players he thought were unlucky, without checking if there was a reason for thier omission.
Lambourn has played for the US, so has to be an exception to be included in a Super team doesnt he?
-
@taniwharugby Does that also apply to players with NZ citizenship and born in NZ?
-
@Stargazer probably not, but really i have no idea anymore why some of the decisions that are made, are made, which is why I asked.

Yes it does. Same as the many PI kiwis, if you make the national team, you are now not eligible for ABs - which is the criteria

I wonder if Evans was signed prior to Mitre 10 Cup?
That's happened before - a few years ago Blues signed Hoani Matenga prior to Mitre 10 Cup and then Auckland ended up having a good Mitre 10 Cup season with a really strong locking performance by Fatialofa but Blues didn't have a spot for him so he ended up going to the Canes.
Signing journeymen prior to Mitre 10 Cup is a flawed strategy.
