Pretty poor game in the end. Ta$man got back every box luck they made so they just kept doing it and we never had enough ball. We were poor when we had the ball. Ah well better than being relegated.

@Donsteppa You're lucky Hames isn't an AR. BOP boy isn't he?

    Also got chequebooked by Ta$man.

BOP has done OK this season with NZR's chequebook.

    Arse.

Some random thoughts at the end. The margin was about what I expected, but a lower scoring game. Pleased to see Hori made it, but glad I didn’t join his planned convoy south in the end. 🙂

Ta$man’s general kicking game was as as exceptional as ours was poor. Was instructive to see Black as captain (apparently?) subbed towards the end for Hollinshead.

Webber has been one of our absolute stars this year, but Ta$man targeted him effectively.

Mitch Karpik is a legend for the Steamers. It’s always a relief to see him near the ball when the opposition is on attack, he’s a tackling machine.

A few of the younger players will be even better for the experience this season, Trask, Van Den Hoven, Dickson, and Narawa in particular.

Will be interesting to see whether Ta$man’s structure or Auckland’s less structured flair wins out next week.

Well fk me, disappointed. If you get that ref in the final worth about 7 points to Ta$man.

We made some bad decisions with ball in hand and it cost us at times but well done @Chris-B and fans, enjoy your final.

Only consolation was hunt kicking for touch at the end so my multi rolls on, hopefully my cherries fill up my bank account later tonight

    Booo

I don’t imagine it’s a tough choice for the Sevens boys to live in the Mount 🙂

@Donsteppa BOP were very lucky. Against a Magpies team that didn't field their strongest squad. Full strength, we would have won. 😜

@Stargazer so you're claiming moral superiority by losing to a team that lost in the semi final tonight? By definition that makes you a weak team!

@KiwiPie All I'm claiming is that not all teams are weak this year. Obviously, I think that the Magpies aren't weak at all .

Edited to add that rather than all teams being weak, I'd say there has not been much separating some of the provinces. A more level competition. That made it more difficult for some teams to win this year, compared to other years.

I’m still gnashing my teeth that we got to play an Inglewood team stacked with Barretts in round one. Naki looked a shadow of that side tonight.

@Stargazer Relatively weak. No outstanding team in the comp hence why the results have been so unpredictable. Ta$man are much weaker this season for example.

    It is sad, but true.

I only spent the afternoon practicing my gloaty victory dance, whereas if we'd had Will Jordan I would have invested the whole day on it.

Would have been wasted anyway, because I'd only just got into the opening steps (in full Mako regalia), when the Sky Director started shrieking "Cut away, cut away. That's far too obnoxious for prime time viewing"!

    Probably from Tauranga.

I walked right past Hori BoP at the end. He was standing on a bench suggesting that Ta$man had thrown too many lollies to the ref! 🙂

@KiwiPie Yeah got me thinking about previous Auckland sides that were losing finalists in 2012 and 2015. 2015 in particular was a far stronger side then the one we have now, we just happened to run into a very strong Canterbury side who just pipped us in the final. 2012 was also a good side (not as good as 2015), but again, we ran into a strong Canterbury side in the middle of their golden era.

Don't get me wrong I'm happy that we're in the final, but we've limped there and probably had 1 very good performance so far. Maybe we're saving our best for this week haha.
