    @J77 a few things:

    • our onfield leadership needs to step up. Game management.
    • early mistakes were dreadful again. In that regard Tuiloma can’t catch a ball which is an issue, Ranger WTF with the cross kick? And not passing?, Macalai started like he hadn’t seen a rugby ball ever. As a team we need less mistakes.
    • behind all of this are some positives ( too early? ] the young guys getting time worked for me. Tua is coming of age and with Nock looking so good, and the other young guys we have some great options. Jacobsens return added something. We now compete physically.
    • both firsts need to work on their kicking but I like what they bring.
    • we have the worst exits in the game

@kev was an accidental off side at the lineout that lead to that ruck when an Auckland player ran into his own one too...very poor passage by the officials, but by the same token, it shouldnt have been that close for a poor decision to take the game away

@taniwharugby no time to be reasonable. Straight forward decision. We should have been all over that with ref. Wonder if we need to have a Captains Challenge because frankly that is just piss poor.

So who is going to be back up hooker next week? I thought Joe Royal was injured?

Probably Michael Lea or Leif Schwencke.

Just got to my phone now.

Watched this on delay without knowing the result. Ffs, don't know how we win that. So stoked, hopefully a great start for a win to the all blacks 👍

Very gutsy win. Tough to come back and win down to 14, and random injuries cost us. I'll take it, really stoked for the boys right now

The more I think about the rule that had us a man down, the more I realize just how dumb it is.

not intended for Auckland like this, but intended to stop cynical teams throwing up injuries for non-contested scrums.

Normally it would happen later in a game. That was a long time with 14. Maybe after 20mins it should go back to 15?
20mins a man down is still a big hit

I didn't think the ref was that bad. Some of the calls on knock ons and obstruction were a bit questionable but he was consistent both ways. We had it way worse last week against NH when the ref basically sleep walked through the game.

Some of the mistakes we made today were so basic - handling errors, poor kick options etc Luckily Leilua wasn't playing otherwise it could've been worse...

I think the coaches need to hold their hands up for some of the issues in this game. As mentioned, some of the substitutes were brainless and appeared to be made for the sake of it.

I liked the aggression that Jacobson bought but I think given they were down to 14 it was a game that would've suited Pryor more if he has been fit. Although our losses did well, I think our first choice looses may have tipped the game our way.

Will he interesting to see who is back from injury for the next game

Do you have to play with a man down when two looseheads or two tightheads in your team get injured and you go to non-contested scrums?

@Chiefy07 think Pryor was just being rested this week, similarly Matich.

Robinson and Ross were both out due to injury.

    Yep, that's the rule.

Whether it's good or not is another story, but the law is the law

@Chiefy07 at the game the not straight in the lineout was very evident on nearly all of the short throws. Some got called, but two lineouts that led to tries were not.Given this a important set piece that Auckland clearly were struggling with I think it was disappointing. The obstruction was significant in that it lead to a try and was very obvious. So in those two areas the officiating was sub standard.

@nzzp Sweet. Was just wondering, because I've seen that happen, but can't remember a man having to go off because of it.

Although faking a hooker injury just to get non-contested scrums would be a bit risky and would usually have little payoff, because you'd have a really crappy lineout for the rest of the game. I can kind of understand the rule being applied for props, but not sure it should apply for hookers.
