I'm so pissed about that, not worth going into the issues with the 2nd last try Auckland got, cos it should never have been that close.

Just dumb decisions week in week out, handling shite again.

Those 2 kicks by Grant and the final one by Faiane...just dumb.

@Dice Number six from Auckland went alright?

I agree. He was one of our better forwards today.

    Crazy game

I'm happy with the effort in that second half. The amount of work on defence was huge and the tries were well taken.

It was a bit windy out there but the quality of passing from Northland was poor. 14 man defence was constantly stretched and Northland just couldn't get it wide enough.

Refs were shit. Missed a lot both ways

Just come back from the game. Pissed. Auckland lineout was dreadful for obvious reasons. But the refs just decided to not call not straight. Auckland’s last two tries were off not straight throws. Really basic reffing that seemed optional. That, given the circumstances should have been called everytime. Just not good enough.

NB. Touch judge started game with error. Brady Rush took the ball from kickoff in touch.

Prime opportunity to pump Auckland wasted with some absolute cabbage play. Fucking pissed.

Bonus point is a consolation and much needed, but hell we need to step up big time for Waikato next week.

Why sub Nock? He should have stayed to help close out,he was by far the best on the paddock today for us.

so in that last 5 mins who was our captain?

Our captain and 2 others who were co-captains last week were all off subbed inside 5 or 6 mins...for me, these were the dumbest call of the day.

That was as big of an opportunity to beat Auckland as we will get, but we blew it through lack of structure and silly decisions

Another positive was the goalkicking from Plummer and that long range effort from Sullivan

Yup great distance. If I was picking the Blues he would be the starting fullback

Still raw and he’ll make mistakes but he has a massive upside

@taniwharugby did any one question the ref for that obstruction that lead to one of their tries? Didn’t look like it from what I could see, and that’s been the big issue with our leadership. Get in the refs ear and persuade him to have a look. Other skippers do it so well.

@J77 absolutely, our on field leadership is lacking. Someone needs to give Rene a clip around the ears when he is stupid.

Crazy game, happy with our attitude and character to get the win. Weird when you can’t attack of your normal set pieces.

    Ruru was fucking amazing.

    @J77 a few things:

    • our onfield leadership needs to step up. Game management.
    • early mistakes were dreadful again. In that regard Tuiloma can’t catch a ball which is an issue, Ranger WTF with the cross kick? And not passing?, Macalai started like he hadn’t seen a rugby ball ever. As a team we need less mistakes.
    • behind all of this are some positives ( too early? ] the young guys getting time worked for me. Tua is coming of age and with Nock looking so good, and the other young guys we have some great options. Jacobsens return added something. We now compete physically.
    • both firsts need to work on their kicking but I like what they bring.
    • we have the worst exits in the game

@kev was an accidental off side at the lineout that lead to that ruck when an Auckland player ran into his own one too...very poor passage by the officials, but by the same token, it shouldnt have been that close for a poor decision to take the game away

@taniwharugby no time to be reasonable. Straight forward decision. We should have been all over that with ref. Wonder if we need to have a Captains Challenge because frankly that is just piss poor.
