I wonder what is the worst start to the Championship? I see Wycombe have had six starts for six losses and have score one goal

Wycombe are a real lower league club that sneaked into the championship with the abrupt ending to last season and they don't have any money to strengthen.

I can't seem to find any stats on starts to a season outside the premier league but the record for most consecutive defeats is 18 in the late 1890s by Darwen (my grandparents lived in Darwen) and most without a win is 38 by Derby County - good targets for Wycombe.

I did that post knowing that you would be the one to come in with the best knowledge/research for which I am grateful! Cheers

You know me so well! Strangely Wycombe have lost every game but aren't bottom of the table.

The not winning run for Derby is relatively recently - imagine supporting a team home and away and not seeing a single league victory for a whole year. (Northland and Southland fans can relate)

Wycombe losing has been a banker for all my multis this year, I am loving it.

Here's one of my favourite football stats.

The season when the champions of Sweden were the lowest scorers.

Great (bad) commentary moment when Newcastle scored a late equaliser and the camera panned to the Wolves manager on the touchline

    @canefan Pierluigi Collina.

There are a few EPL refs that are bald too.

Liverpool keep on winning to go top despite consistently going a goal down - starting to look like United during peak Fergie where they can play relatively poorly yet still find a way to win. Lots of teams close to the top in this strange season but none of them looking like they can seriously challenge for the title if Liverpool and City start to get consistency.

Thoughts on the penalty that Kane won? It looked a foul the other way to me. A bouncing ball that Lallana is running to jump and head clear and Kane puts his body in the way to take the contact and sprawl to the floor. Would have been a yellow if he'd done it in rugby. Kane is one of the smartest for playing the ref though.

@KiwiPie evened out because they were robbed by VAR and the ref on the Brighton goal. Spurs scrambled the points despite not playing great, still very much a work in progress

I was happy to break a 14-yr drought at Old Trafford. Partey and Gabriel are proving to be great signings and Elneny looks to be a completely different player this season.

Fulham win the dance of the desperate 2-0 at home against WBA and move (for now) out of the bottom three.

Are we doomed as everyone suggests? My hope is that the team has really only had a few weeks together and will improve. I'd argue that their off season was even more truncated than the teams that featured in Europe. Couldn't even hope to make a signing until it was confirmed we were coming up etc

We've had two bad losses against teams in the top 1/3 of the table, 3 losses by the odd goal against teams in the middle third and taken points (should have been 6) against the fellow strugglers.

Unfortunately our next 5 games are: West Ham, Everton(h), Leicester, Man City, Liverpool(h)....

The Brighton equaliser should have been ruled out once it went to VAR and the ref saw it on the screen - a definite foul. Should it have been referred to VAR at all? Arguable as although a goal followed before the ball went out, the foul wasn't a direct contributor to the goal - indirect as it removed a potential defender.
