@barbarian I believe he’s got rural property Victoria. It’s definitely no surprise he wants to go there.

On Geelong’s contracts and cap, guys like Selwood and Ablett would be on veteran contracts which helps when your top players are in that

And he did give the giants 10 years which is a long time in football terms

Another premiership, all feels a but surreal after the years of pain ,

Dustin Martin is as good a big match player as I have seen in any code , saves his best for the big moments when it’s most needed

It was great to see the shared Gazza guard of honour after the game.

And Tom Hawkins would be the worst big match player

Richmond better pressure and able to get the ball forward more. Geelong had many opportunities and probably should’ve had a 5 goal lead at HT.

Agreed. At the highest level in the most competitive game his impacts are astonishing.

congratulations to Richmond, that's a hell of a premiership.

Geelong had their chance, didn't take it, and then Dusty decides it's time for Richmond to win, and so does it with 3 touches. What a player.

After that, it was one way traffic.

Geelong have too many big names who go missing when the heat goes on. Look a million bucks when Collingwood and the lions don't show up, disappear when Richmond put the squeeze on. Their list is cooked despite looking good.

Sad way for Ablett to finish. So classy of Richmond to cheer him off.

How much is Geelong paying Hawkins? Anything over his subs seems a waste.

I mean yeah, but also that's a bit harsh. They were just edged out in a GF, against an all-time dynasty side.

Of course they could be better, but surely if you were a Geelong fan or coach you'd be pretty satisfied with your season when all is said and done.

if the goal is to win a flag, and you make the top 4 year after year, and yet never win, i reckon you can say they have an issue.

Dustin Martin put a battling team on his back and got them home. What did Dangerfield, Hawkins and Selwood do?

The team is okay. They'll make top 4 again next year. But i can't see them winning one

I will admit i may be a little pissed at how easily they brushed us aside a week ago, and how meekly they gave this one up once Richmond put the squeeze on.

The goal is obviously to win a flag, and making the top 4 year after year is a bloody good start for that.

I thought Selwood was pretty good in the final, Danger and Hawkins less so. Dusty is an all-timer so holding them to that standard is a bit tough, though if Danger wants to be in that company I agree he needs to be stepping up in those moments. Maybe he's not a champion, he's just really good.

And then from there you just need a bit of luck to win one. They may not be the best team in the comp, but with Jeremy Cameron in there they will be pretty close next year. Parfitt is a really good youngster as well.

Richmond have the best quality “next best 6 players” in the AFL. Yes they have Dusty and other stars, but it’s what under those players where they are most dangerous.

Their ground work was just better than Geelong’s in that second half.

I think what gets overlooked with Richmond is their system,

Forget the individuals, obviously dusty is the rockstar , but when they get their game up and going it’s the collective team system that breaks teams down .

This game was so identical to last years prelim v Geelong it was bizarre

yeah so much this. when they are up and about, the opposition, no matter who it is, just don't seem to be able to do anything about them. They are a really really good team who are bloody well coached. I bet there are a lot of professional coaches who would love to find what ever switch it was that Hardwick was able to flick to suddenly elevate Ninethmond with a coach on the verge of the sack to a side that has been nigh-on untouchable for 4 years.

I wonder if part of it was the players believing in the game plan and the switch flicking. I keep going back to All Blacks vs France in 2004.

Part of the other reason is they're doing great work in talent identification and coaching in the lower grades. I think @kiwiinmelb made the point earlier that Richmond's VFL team plays the same way so players can step up and immediately know their role.

I was surprised at how well they adapted in the final missing Soldo and then Vlastuin early to injury.
