What was the one described as " bewildering backline move" by the press?
I think it was against Aus and when Wayne Smith was coaching in some capacity? It went through so many hands and was confusing to even watch but brilliant none the less.
Just remember how clever it was and off a set piece.
That would be the one in the video I posted in this very thread.

Again, weirdly. For a guy of my generation. I don't remember any from the 1996 series win v South Africa. Except for the dodgy one with the 2 locks linking but optically ruined by Ian Jones' forward over the top basketball pass to Jeff Wilson.
You don't remember Wilson's two tries from chip and chases?
It's brought back memories, cheers. But obviously not burned on.

I think that would be the one. I have just watched it a few more times to check. Bloody awesome.

Carlos against the Crusaders. The sideline conversion was a cherry on the top.
I would have included this in my list, but I know it only from youtube. I must have been overseas or something at the time. Same with the 2000 Bledisloe tries, was backpacking, never saw them.

Vidiri double chip and catch. For the Blues.

Woodcock 2011 RWC Final
For spine tingling moments and crowd reactions, this is very high on the list.
-
For the All Blacks: Wilson's chip and catch down the right wing in Pretoria, 1996
Same year, Frank Bunce crashing over through Michael Brial in last minute after Mehrtens/Cullen break to score at Suncorp.
Ryan Crotty deep into stoppage time in Dublin in 2013.
Against the All Blacks: They Try From the End of the World by France at Eden Park, 1994
Not involving the All Blacks: Sergo Blanco scoring in last minute to defeat Australia and win 1987 RWC Semi.

Love the Rupeni try vs the Brumbies in the wet/mud 2003.
Smit’s 100th test “HE’S GOT DAGG”

I can half remember two great France tries v England in 5 Nations in crica 1990 and 1991.
In particular the one at Twickenham started by Blanco behind his own line and I'm pretty sure included a centring kick. Sure it was in the dieing minutes.I've looked it up.
This is categorically the best try ever. Fact.
Trickery. Not putting it down for the 22 drop out.
The switch in angles by two players, that only the French seem to do, (like 1994 v us).
The chip and regather on the full.
The centering kick.
The guy runing the centre line having to slow to pick it up with the chasers in camera view.
The acceleration from the slow start.
Involving 2 all time great in Blanco and Sella.
But not in the dying minutes. Score was 6-3 after the try. Only area it loses out The Try From The End Of the World.

Bit before my time. I started watching in 1982.
But 2 length of the field team tries in 1980, both finished by Hika Reid. At a time when test rugby was still tight and dour they were extraordinary.
Set up by Bruce Robertson (well one was anyway)

Weirdly. While Horan, Campese and Mortlock tries are burned in my memory. I have no vision at all of tries that knocked us out in 99 & 07 by France or even 2019 by England. I vaguely remember a kick and chase in 99.
The Michalak involvement is burned in my mind...

I remember this try well. It was even funnier at the time as Brial had earlier thrown all those punches at Bunce.
