BOP police in Kawerau

This family makes me want to vomit. Hard to recall such complete blame transferal.

As for frightened, how the fuck does this dumb bitch think the police felt when bullets started flying? The families, when they got the call that their partner/brother/father had been SHOT and rushed to hospital???
-

What a fucking glory seeker. Who cares if the mayor of Kawerau is a good kid??? Hardly relevant.

(see Hooroo.. the dangers of a dangling participle)
-
To be fair to the Mayor he was being interviewed and was asked questions about the family - whether he knew them, how long he'd known them, did he know the perp, what was he like etc.

I actually got the quote wrong now I think about it. He said the family were good - about the kid he said it was inappropriate to comment.

Sounds like him and his whanau are ferals, "could have come from a shooting range" ffs. Were the people at the shooting range firing at the plane that was overhead too?

I've got a mate who was related to Stephen Wallace, he's normally good company but I've had to bite my tongue a few time over the years as hes twisted himself in knots trying to claim the police were at fault not the nutter who wouldn't put down his weapons when confronted by an armed cop.

I've worked with an officer who was extremely involved in that case. Depending on which lunatic relative you believe Wallace was only shot and killed cos he was Maori ( conveniently forgetting that the officer who pulled the trigger is too ) and "was only smashing a few windows" the police could have easily "taken him down with a Stephen Seagal type move" ( I've never had a golf club to the head but I'd imagine if I survived that basic things like eating, drinking and going to the toilet on my own would be difficult ) and incapacitated him until help arrived. At a sole charge town like Waitara "help" is often 20-30 minutes away and that is when they are red lighting. So yeah when I hear about this it is a pretty sore point for me personally ( some fluffybunny shot my police officer granddad dead many moons ago )

You can be sure as fuck that no "whanau" support were given the disgusting soapbox like they were today. Trying to garner sympathy for some fuckwit who deliberately shot at our brave boys in blue trying to do their job repulses me in the extreme. Do that shit in private and lament the fact that you raised what you did......

It's no wonder cops miss the old non PC days of yesteryear.
-

I'm not sure how anyone, family or not, can in their right mind suggest taking someone on who is armed with a golf club. I know how Police are trained and if Wallace had complied he'd be alive now. It's as black and white as that.

Been involved in an armed incident before ????? so fucken what, that's his job.
-

I keep my golf clubs conveniently close to hand just in case anyone ventured into my house uninvited, I pitching wedge would make a lethal weapon for sure!

As can be the case, when someone is jacked up on something, shooting them in the leg doesn't always incapacitate them.
-

Police are trained to shoot the largest mass ie the torso.

When someone is advancing with a weapon ( or even unarmed for example some meth addicted 120kg gym freak going towards a 50kg female officer ) the adrenaline often means they'll miss the target particularly if they're trying to be specific ( an arm or a leg ). Dirty Harry took out Scorpio from about 100 metres with a beautifully taken shot to the leg from his trusty 44 Magnum. In real life that sort of precision from only 10 metres with a glock is fucken hard enough particularly if the heart is beating at a million beats a minute.

From memory police give the suspect two warnings. If they keep advancing they get the double tap to the chest.
-

I don't think there is an alternate way when using live rounds. It is only shoot to kill. No such thing as warning shots etc. (We were taught that in the Air Force and I can only assume it is the same for police?)
-

That's a good point. Pistols are incredibly inaccurate.
-
they train cops to shoot in the chest because it's damn near impossible to hit a moving target anywhere else successfully with a pistol .

It only takes a couple of drunken minutes to create a feral and months of training to create a cop. And cops aren't usually a lifelong drain on the taxpayer. -

Yeah my cousin was in the AOS up here for many years and jokingly said that hand guns used in movies are clearly very different to those in real life, as anything beyond 10m is wildly innacurate.
-

Well yeah, obviously they do all they can to avoid being in the situation in the first place. A cops most powerful weapon is his/her voice after all. But very soon after I chatted with said officer about Wallace I did lower myself to a facebook shitfight with some liberal greenie dickwad commenting on a mates post about the inevitable "should police be armed" debate who said the situation could have "easily" been resolved without violence.

The person who was friends with that person then defriended me after I had a go at them haha.
