@Snowy Basically from picking Foster on, NZR has been a cluster fuck.

Agreed. The only thing I will give them credit for is the retention of our top players. We have managed to sign most of our top guys till the next RWC. Covid may have helped a little though.

With the hope that Aust can by then have 5 teams that are strong enough to compete with the NZ teams

With no hope of judging how much they've improved or need to improve?

    No. That doesn't make sense.

But by all means, let's have another season of 2 games a week for fans and 2 or 3 rounds of the same fixtures. That won't get

@NTA I reckon the isolation and not playing one another is good, makes players and teams an unknown quantity, less familiarity from playing them regularly.

I've never been a fan of a straight Trans Ta$man comp, but I'm on board for it to go ahead next year as a stop gap ... if only because it means there'll be a transtasman bubble.

So we're all saying that we don't want all 5 Super AU teams but we want the China Lions. Just kiss and make up and have a 10 team comp with Australia and be done with it.

Yeah that kind of sums up the breakdown between the two unions nicely.

@Kirwan Oh man. After a decade of saying the Force don't cut it they are the next in line to join SRAo? what a fucking farce.

Needs a healthy dose of humilty from both unions to repair this working relationship. Both unions need each other to be strong to keep the money rolling in.

I'm hoping this is just a misguided negotiating tactic to make out like we have other options.

The simple answer is five teams per country in a trans Ta$man competition with no guaranteed finals in either country. Top two teams host the semis, final in the top team's country.

RA can put their money where their mouths are, and we can have decent, short competition without too much bloat.

@Derpus Does this not mean that the Force aren't guaranteed to continue in SR AU or is Twiggy hedging his bets?

@Bovidae Good bet. To be honest - it's looking more and more likely that we are done for. No TV deal, no confirmed competition, no major sponsor and our finances in a very big hole. Next year could see administration.

Makes sense for Twiggy but for NZRU?

@Kirwan i agree - i've been saying from the start that the simple answer is the best one but it all got derailed.

that has always been a sticking point and made a farce of the current (or most recent Super Rugby) format.

To me it makes the finals a rare thing to have locally for your team, and should encourage crowds. Split up the TV revenue fairly and you are golden.

With all this animosity between the unions, beating the trans Ta$man teams should be fun for both sets of fans. With all this uncertainty over the health of the game they should get their fingers out of their arses and get it done.

    What. The. Fuck

So we started a war with the Aussies because they have a couple of crap teams and now we are going to add three even shitter teams?
Was this just a ploy to steal the force all along?

NZRU needs a new CEO. This one is a fucking dud.

Tracy Atiga (Kanaloa Pacifica CEO) was not happy on TV3 tonight. More in the embedded video.
