@taniwharugby More being salty, I think.

Congrats to Otago, The Shield is yours for a week.
Magpies getting the next challenge!Who do we have waiting in line as challengers in our first defence?
-
@Stargazer she's pretty safe if you do win, we havent touched that thing in my lifetime
I think Otago win we get next crack, they lose we get a crack.
-
... the next week is basically going to be me debating with myself if the bay are that good and we’re screwed or if canterbury are having a rare rough year and we have a shot...
-
What a game by Otago! Their motley crew of forwards were excellent. Who’s that nuggety barrel playing number 8?
Josh Ioane seems to have a calming influence in the way they attack as well.

It's not going to happen this year (it better not), but until 2013 we hadn't touched it in my lifetime either, and I'd been brought up on stories of the 1920s and 1960s eras by my great grandmother, grandfather, and father. So keep the faith.

@Yeetyaah I'm pretty sure it isnt, I personally have always felt if a team doesnt compete, then it shouldnt matter if it isnt straight, but that isnt how the rules are as far as I know.
One of the refs in the CM-Nor game made the same comment about a not straight not being competed for
-
@taniwharugby But NLD did jump, half heartedly, and that's enough. They didn;t stay on the ground. But this certainly isn't in the rules, not straight is not straight. Next forward passes will be OK as long as no defenders nearby
-
@Machpants yea the other comms did point out the half hearted effort of a jump.
TBF if they changed the rule, all it would take woudl be the guy at the back to do a jump to make the not straight be called

Dylan Nel a South African born player he played in Canterbury for a few years made the Canterbury B side was around the A squad but couldn’t get game time moved to Otago last season
-
He actually moved south in 2018, got 20+ Otago caps now, he’s bloody handy
