Not just that but how about they select genuine wings than a couple of midfielders. Surely Gaff in there ahead of Macrae.
And I like the Bont, but if he gets picked as a half forward and has only kicked 11 goals for the season, when there are other half forwards in the 40 man squad that have kicked 25+ goals...
The man love for the midfielders still reigns supreme.

So a few surprises...
Back Sheppard - Andrews - Ryan
Halfback Haynes - Moore - Byrne-Jones
Centre Macrae - Boak - Guthrie
Half forward Dangerfield - Dixon - Bontempelli
Forward Ryan - Hawkins - Martin
Ruck Naitanui - Petracca - NealeInterchange Steele - Daniel - Adams - Gawn
the fact i know so many of those names makes me think they've been picked on reputation
-
Selection is rightly copping heat. Just pick midfielders and stuff them in anywhere is not selecting. It's like they can't imagine a team without all of the biggest names in it.

The half-forward line is where the head scratchers are. Charlie Dixon is a genuine full forward, and picking Danger and Bont there is a bit odd given neither can hit the side of a barn in front of goal.
But you can't have an AA without Bont and Danger...
-
Would’ve actually made more sense selecting Danger as ruck rover and Petracca as half forward
-
Be interesting if Rules was an international sport , and you had an important test series or WC to play ,
What the team would look like ,
Im guessing more emphasis on who stands up in big games
-
@kiwiinmelb @shark guys like Selwood, Pendlebury and a few experienced heads would probably be first names on there.
-
finals kick off tonight with a cracker. Port v Geelong should be huge. Can Geelong actually turn up this finals series? Are Port as good when finals pressure comes on?
Tigers v Brisbane tomorrow. Lions trying to win that fixture for the first time in a million years. I can't see it happening.
Then the eliminations on the weekend. Saints v Bulldogs should be close as fuck. Weagles v Collingwood you would expect to go West Coast's way.
-
Week 1 predictions
Port v Geelong
Lions v Tigers
Saints v Dogs
Eagles v Pies -
Doubt that would pay much

Only two favourites in my picks according to Sportsbet
-
I'm actually surprised the Dogs are favourites
-
Here come the Cats.
I’m no Cats fan and I can’t stand Brad Scott as a coach, but hearing a booing and disgruntled home Adelaide crowd is music to the ears.
-
Geelong looking good at times, finishing 3rd or 4th, and then imploding in the finals. Set your clock by it
Dangerfield is such a soft downhill skier. If he wasn't quick he'd be in reserve grade. And the commentators pull him off constantly
It's almost football heresy, but if the Cats are serious, G Ablett doesn't play again this year. Father time gets even the very best.
Good win by Port. They are a bloody good side. Their prelim in Adelaide means they can start looking at accommodation in Brisbane for GF weekend
-
Brissy trying to hold on with 6 minutes to go.
Bolton almost kicked the goal of the season. Just grazed the padding.
-
LIONS!!!!
I can't remember the last time I was that invested in a game. My kids heard some colourful phrases.
I thought we fucked it with those two misses at the end of the 3rd. Then the 4th was a shitfight. But we won, and we're in a prelim!!
A word on the Ch7 Richmond cheer squad. It was apparent there was only one team out there. And only one result. Listening to them after Mccluggage's goal was pretty funny.
Yew!
