@Chris-B not that he is a poach, but from a Northland perspective, it is frustrating that Isi signs with Canterbury, only to be loaned to Ta$man, who didnt really need him, whereas someone of his calibre left a hole in our side as evidenced last night.

Have to assume this is Crusaders/Canterbury/ Ta$man working together to stockpile players, and despite signing with Canterbury, was always heading to Ta$man.

@taniwharugby Yes - the other Chris pointed out that Ta$man has benefited from being part of the Crusaders 'region. As do Canterbury.

I suspect we've got Sevu through the same mechanism i.e. guys that don't want to have two homes 500 miles apart. And Andrew Goodman being a coach in both organizations.

But, I don't regard Isi as a poach. Canterbury will recall him at the most inopportune time for Ta$man - mark my words. They did the same thing a few years ago with Jordan Taufua. 🙂

@Chris-B well I did say, "not that he is a poach"

My heart will bleed for you guys if they do that, you guys are doing it so tough 😉

@taniwharugby While I have been particularly and purposefully obnoxious in victory 🙂 in reality, Ta$man winning has been a massive win for the former Div II unions.

So you shouldn't confuse me being an arsehole with how good it has been for Canterbury, Auckland, Wellington and Waikato to be stuffed by the minnows! 🙂

    @Chris-B said in Ta$man v Northland:

The only genuine poaches Ta$man has made, IMO, have been Kane Hames and then this season Sevu Reece and Mark Talea.

    😂 😂 😂

Reminds me of when England started picking Poly players and the goalposts for the definition of poaches started moving. 😉

@Nepia I will clarify - I have no compunction about signing kids out of school or other people's club competitions.

They're on your doorstep - if you want them sign them.

If you fail to identify their talent or let them slip through your fingers then bad luck - lift your game.

I'm a bit uneasy about signing people who are clearly wanted from other people's teams. Hence, Hames, Reece and Talea are signings I'm not comfortable with. They're poaches - like when you guys nicked the Mighty Kahn - but, that was way worse because it was facilitated by Steve Tew!

I don't understand why Faiane is getting rated so highly in either match. Hasn't been bad but certainly hasn't stood out. His kicking is a bit of a liability - definitely missing Debreczeni at 10. More of a danger with ball in hand than Hawkins but still not taking it to the line like Debreczeni did either.

Really can't understand why Gregory isn't at 12. If he's fit he should be starting at 12 every match and we build the backline around him. Would also like to see Macilai get a run - probably in place of Leilua. Leilua has been ok but Macilai is such a danger at this level and we could do with someone who can make something out of nothing

@Chiefy07 Agree re Gregory but thought Leilua was better than Highland. Just want Jordon to throw that big body around more.

He needs to get the ball before he can do that, alt of the play hasnt gone his way, but when we have had the ball we rarely send it his way, he did go looking the other night as he was on the other side a few times, but we still need to use him more as he attracts more than 1 defender which will create space.

@taniwharugby Fair comment - some times in games that is very much the case. That said, Leilua has impressed me this year with his physicality.
