@Tim I think this is about it; not entirely sure about Fihaki and the Punivai's.

Props: Harry Allen, Finlay Brewis, Oli Jager, Daniel Lienert-Brown, Scott Mellow, Joe Moody, Fletcher Newell, Tamaiti Williams

Hookers: Shilo Klein, Brodie McAlister, Codie Taylor

Locks: Sam Darry, Luke Donaldson, Mitchell Dunshea, Luke Romano, Sam Whitelock

Loosies: Tom Christie (7), Whetu Douglas (8/6), Cullen Grace (also lock), Billy Harmon (7), Reed Prinsep, Tom Sanders

    Halfbacks: Mitch Drummond, Ere Enari

First five-eights: Fergus Burke, Brett Cameron, Richie Mo'unga

Midfielders: Braydon Ennor (also wing) , Rameka Poihipi, Chay Fihaki (or wing?), Dallas McLeod, Isaiah Punivai, Ngane Punivai (also wing?)

Outside backs: George Bridge, Andrew Knewstubb, Manasa Mataele, Josh McKay

    Donaldson is a HB

    Fihaki wing/FB

Both Punivais are centres but could be used on the wing.

@Chris LOL, I knew that Donaldson is a halfback. Don't know how he ended up between the locks in my list, haha. Have made changes in my post.

@Stargazer Ngane Punivai first position is wing, Fihaki is wing/midfield, Scott Mellow is usually a hooker. He played for Taranaki for a while

Mellow is a TH Prop play for Mari st Albion Punivai was always a centre in CHCh but was used on the Wing sometimes. Fihaki plays all his rugby in the Crusader Knights and in club for HSOB as a wing /FB never seen him in the centres

@Yeetyaah I added that more to indicate that he's capable of playing there (like for NZU20s), not that I expected him to play there (he didn't for the Crusaders).

Grace will cover lock if needed. Hell, we used Reed Prinsep there at times last season.

Ngani Punivai is 100% a centre who just happens to be able to cover wing. The Highlanders used him on the wing and Canterbury also, but only as a stop-gap.

So annoyed Otago have poached Will Tucker and Sam Gilbert.

@shark To be fair, Gilbert is injured so he wasn't going to be playing anyways and Otago lost Josh Dickson. Yous have already got Whitelock and Barrett, share your players to the teams that need a lock

@NateHill74 that's far from the point. I'd like to see these young locally produced kids with potential at least establish themselves with - and add value to - Canterbury for a season or three before possibly having to go elsewhere to advance themselves, if indeed they need to move to do so. I'd much rather see a good young local kid retained than someone else brought in.

@shark If you read the general Mitre 10 Cup thread, you can find some livescoring. The link to the FB livestream is posted there, too. 🙂

I count a minimum of 17 locally schooled squaddies. Some of the debutants I haven't looked up.
