It's a silly software thing. When you add a number with a . after it it forces a numbered list and counts upwards
I think they're all jealous of my brilliant side anyway.
Fatigue shouldn't have been an issue with 37 of them.

@Snowy except bender...actually, i take that back, he'd be fine
-
@Kiwiwomble On his own.
-

@NateHill74 I'd forgotten about Brewer all this time - I'd probably go with Kronfeld, Randell and Brewer.

Did Culhane ever play for Otago? Edit: I just checked Wiki and he had 6 games for them in 1999.
-
@Kiwiwomble sorry, forgot about Joseph, just added him, I considered him, but not there just yet i'd say/ He's a great player though
-
@NateHill74 Move Stephen Bachop to your 1st 5 list.
Another halfback is Dean Kenny. He was the reason Kirk moved to Auckland as Mains favoured him.
-
@Bovidae sorry, got his position mixed with Graeme. Yeah I've heard of Kenny too

-
Gordy McPherson and Richard Knight provided yeoman service in the 80s and very early 90s (I think both were in the 1991 NPC champion side still) but Maling, Ryan and Donnelly were all more talented, and Timmins was just a rock in the great Otago teams of 1993-1995.

Brew was a dominant player at NPC level for Otago. A possible smokey for the Naki side even.

I remember him looking great at Taranaki, coming south and being particularly average then pulling out a top-drawer performance against the 2005 Lions. That might be a slight rewriting of history, but I didn't think much of him in an Otago jersey up to that point.

He always reminded me of the drawings of Greeks in the Asterix comics.
Oh, and ok when he moved into centre from wing.

Now you mention it, you're bloody right!
Oh, and ok when he moved into centre from wing.
Yep. I recall a good chip and chase try from him for the Naki, but bugger all down the tramlines for Otago.
-
Brew was garbage for Otago early on. It was only his last couple of seasons at centre when he started to come right and was just starting to dominate when he disappeared.
-
@Kiwiwomble couldn't squeeze Timu in? Could he play on the left instead of Cook?
-
@Nepia said in Ultimate NPC: - Otago:
Damn, some weird recency bias in this thread - Evans over Randell, Hunt bracketed with Kronfeld?????
No John Timu?Ioane mentioned before Bachop?

Could do but as I said, record try scorer counts for something and I think ioane has a long ABs carrier ahead of him competition permitting
-
so apparently first NPC team gets dibs and goldie played for southland...so...Cooke and timu on the wings?
-
so...my revised list taking some advise onboard
-
Kees Meeuws / Carl Hoeft
-
Dave Latta
-
Carl Hayman
-
Simon Maling
-
James Ryan
-
Kronfield
-
Randell
-
Byron Kelleher
-
Tony Brown
-
Paul Cooke
-
John Leslie
-
Timu
-
Bender
so 6. and 13.? Joseph and Ellis?

@Crucial i was just starting to wonder about someone like Thomson at 6, more games for the AB's means he's better?
-
I'd put Randell at 6 and have Pene at 8. I know Taine played well at 8 for Otago but he always looked like a 6 to me. carved it up there for AB's too
-
@dogmeat me too but after my original post people seemed to list him as an 8 more often
-
@dogmeat said in Ultimate NPC: - Otago:

Yeah, I mentioned that at the start of the thread. Some wanted to move Randell to no.8 so that Joseph was at 6.
-
6 Randell / 8 Pene is significantly better than 6 Joseph / 8 Randell and also gives your team a much better chance of finishing the match with 15 players
