About as weak as Collins' soccer dive.
Hilarious when he hit the ground like he had been shot 10 seconds after the love tap to the guts, when lynch was on a lead and he realised he couldnt go with him ,
the tough guy act in the rooms was impressive though
you mean, after the other defender gave him another one?
fucking Tigers fans, seriously
I dont condone what lynch did , but the fine was consistent with other similar incidents ,
the AFl have dug themselves a hole by allowing this sort of weak stuff to go unpunished previously , and couldnt view this one differently just because of the media hype it created
for 2 fines in the same game, after a fine 2 weeks ago, at what point do you get suspended though?
The "media hype" is because a serial offender is allowed to keep doing this shit with repeated slaps on the wrist. And, while most probably not the case, there is a "big name/big club" deduction that looks to be in play.
I also think the media hype is because it is a big club , I remember mike Sheahan saying Richmond and collingwood stories sell more papers ,
I would say he is on thin ice now , like Gary Ablet last year, and Abletts were worse because of head contact with elbows and didnt get suspended until the third incident
they seem to take a much lighter approach to body contact . if it was head he would certainly be gone

close, if not great game yesterday @ACT-Crusader
As usual, we created enough scoring opportunities to win 2 games, miss shot after shot, kick 14 behinds, and nearly lose.
we are not a contender, no matter what our league position says. Straight sets finals exit looms again, for the same reason as last year.
-
the bloods we're painful to watch on sat, we're really dynamic in our own half, handball, handball, long run, handball....then blindly bomb it into the 50...i dont know...maybe keep doing what was working, seeing as our key goal scorer is a small forward...bombing it hoping for a mark...doesn't seem smart

Buddy would help there (not that he has ever been able to mark over head) but i see he has been rubbed out for the rest of the year
-
@mariner4life yeah, its like we forget he's not on the pitch

I'm inclined to agree with this. Hipwood is a great overhead mark but can't hit the side of a barn from 20m. You just can't expect to show up in the finals and kick 5.13 and win.
The two class sides at this stage are West Coast and Geelong. Next week is a big game for the Eagles, as its their first away from Perth in a long time. If they can prove they can function in a hub then the world is their oyster. Nic Nat is the MVP of the comp in the games I've seen, he's just so much better than all of his competition.

I'm not sure Hippy is any better now than in his debut year. Bit bigger, but that's it.
We play some really good footy. But if you can't turn set shots in to scoreboard pressure, you deflate, and the other team gets a leg up. We are one big reliable goal kicker from brilliance.
We'll see how West Coast go when they have to come back to Qld. But yes, right now, the Eagles and the Cats are the best sides. Richmond's best is still as good if not better than theirs, but they don't find that best enough at the moment. No one else can win, and that includes the current ladder leaders.
-
Yeah I like the look of west Coast and Geelong right now ,
While Richmonds best is good enough , it hasnt been there enough yet and they are running out of time , Im expecting them to lose to West Coast this week , which should mean missing the 4 , and it might just all end up a bit too hard from there , i think there is an underlying feeling of contentment that happens often after a premiership . West coast were like that last year when obviously good enough.
As far as brisbane and port goes , if they get a top 2 spot , you just never know if things go your way , bounce of the ball , injuries ,etc sometimes you get lucky .

We were sloppy. Lots of possessions not going to hand. Some things for our side to learn from in that one.
On their day and if they convert even half of their misses, Brissy could beat Geelong or Richmond.
I watched West Coast again yesterday and they are the best in the comp at ball use. They are hard to the ball and they rarely waste possession.
I genuinely think that only Richmond (the good Premiership version that throw numbers and pressure at the ball) have the game to beat them.
Geelong are an enigma and come finals they could crumble (again)

The Western Australian government is busy right now hunting around for the cash to pay the AFL for the Grand Final
-
@mariner4life they might want to ensure that they have a team in the final.
Tigers beat West Coast convincingly.
-
That's my point. The Eagles in WA and the Eagles in Qld are 2 totally different sides

I’ve been a bit of a fan of the Eagles since they came into the AFL. Chris Mainwaring and Matera were two favourite players. And young pre-junked up Cousins was an absolute gun.
But I would laugh my head off if Perth got the GF and West Coast didn’t make it. There’s an arrogance about WC fans that would be knocked down a peg or two.
-
Queensland deserve it for saving the competition ,
Most teams are hubbed there, its become the centre headquarters this year , it just makes sense now ,
if west coast cant adapt when other teams have had to do it , that is their problem

I wouldn't worry too much about the Eagles based on that performance. They were right in it.
Losing Kennedy in the first quarter hurt them, as did the short turnaround.

Richmond lost grimes around the same time so that was like for like , best forward , best defender ,
Had one extra day but played in the Sapping heat in Darwin which was pretty draining ,
so not too much in it really
-
The Dees beat St Kilda in Alice Springs and move back into the 8. Last four games are all winnable, which probably means we're sunk.
The TV coverage was shit, desperately lacking a high camera. And I've witnessed numerous Welcome to Country ceremonies over the last few years but none anywhere near as cringe worthy as last night. The worst of it was the women with their tits hanging out, and one of them might have only been a teenager. Gross.

Jesus. Needy much?
Okay, Richmond are just the besterest and the Eagles were lucky to be within 10 goals

Yes correct
To be honest, they have been a bit crap this year , and i was pumped how well they played . lets see if they can back it up

what is the point of North Melbourne?
Not much changed over the weekend. Melbourne showed that not making finals would be a massive choke. And they should be aiming for the 2nd week after that.
Someone is going to be unlucky and miss out, because Collingwood to GWS is (and okay the Bulldogs) is bloody close.
Everyone else can start thinking about 2021
I have tickets to the Dees v Freo on Monday
