@MN5 For Harbour, presumably? Because there was a several year gap between Larsen playing tests and Flavells' debut. Which isn't really keeping the jersey warm.
They're another inverse. Larsen was the guy more suited to lock who played probably more as a lumbering flanker for NZ, while Flavell was more suited to flanker but played lock for NZ.

This gives me Kaino at lock vs Ireland flashbacks.
Terrific No.6 and great cover for lock in an injury situation - def not a starter at 4 or 5.
Which is the inverse of S Barrett. Quality starting lock and useful cover at 6 (some forget he filled that role very effectively several times before his ill-fated promotion to starting at 6).
The Barrett at 6 thing reminds me of Blair Larsen who was also a slightly undersized lock but just a little too clunky to play a full game at 6.
Not sure who is more insulted by that.

Team I'd pick for an AB Test of players available for NvS game:
1.Moody 2. Taylor 3. Ofa T 4. S. Whitelock (c) 5. Patrick T 6. A. Ioane 7. A. Savea 8. H. Sotutu 9. A. Smith 10. R. Mo'unga 11. C. Clarke 12. ALB 13. J. Goodhue 14. W. Jordan 15. J. Barrett 16. A. Aumua 17. Hodgman 18. Laulala 19. Frizell 20. Papali'i. 21. TJP 22. B. Barrett 23. Umaga-Jensen
Close. But Roane needs to be here somewhere.

So Frizell to play at lock if SM or PT are injured ? It could be dangerous against SA.

Triple like!

this one looks good, hasn't Boshier mainly played 6 though? i guess if he can get the run over from 6 then he should find 7 even easier

Not one Blues player in the backrow?

@antipodean ive seen lots of questions about sotutu, imagine it was close between he and MMT but ard to claim form when injured for the last few weeks

Have I missed the announcement of AB dates this year?
Stuff says (Edit: Stuff reprinting SMH)
With just seven weeks left until the opening Bledisloe Cup test,do we know where these are being played, how many, etc? I'm not surprised, but may have genuinely missed this

Jordan was mainly used at fullback. When he was on the wing, he was a bit meh. Reece was the form right winger IMO, with Telea just bubbling under.

Knowler's article today on Stuff also lists proposed dates:
Oct 10 and 17 in NZ
Nov 1 (Sydney) and Nov 8 (Brisbane)Nothing official yet though.

Bloody hot to be playing a game of footy at Brisbane in November.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said yesterday the Government had no intention of opening Queensland's borders to any state or territory that still had community transmission.
Queensland Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young previously set a border reopening threshold for southern states to have two full incubation periods without any cases of community transmission.

Only two deaths yesterday in the UK of people with COVID. I still wouldn't rule out NZ-Aus-SA playing tests against each other up north in November, especially as so many of the Saffa players are based in England now.
Another possibility is Italy where covid has nearly disappeared.
-
@sparky Italy had 401, 642, 840 and 947 in the past 4 days, so a bit premature saying it has nearly disappeared.
I cant see the ABs playing in the NH this season, outside of a RWC year, we would only be starting TRC about now.
I would love for International rugby to happen, but surely a calender year with no international rugby is very real possibility.

They have started testing just about everyone ahead of the return of schools in Italy. Only 69 of their cases are described as serious. Amazing given where they were a few months ago.

International Rugby has happened in 2020 and will continue. It might just not involve the ABs that much.
