@NateHill74 sorry, thought you were talking about my last post about midfield/wing...in saying that...he hasn't got the hands for a No8
-
@Kiwiwomble oh i see know
-
@Kiwiwomble i agree though, he would fit 6 better, which we need a position for
-
@NateHill74 or keep him in the engine room where hes been doing a good job for the landers....and tell him to top roaming wide
-
1.96 m for Parete seems very generous. When he played for the Chiefs he didn't look that tall relative to the other loose forwards, and was dwarfed by other locks.

love to see if a "P Jarete" edits that wiki page

@Bovidae His profile on the Highlanders website says 1.86m. That seems about right.
His player profile on the Taranaki website says 1.93 m.
Using the eyeball test he looked short for a lock.
-
@Bovidae i tried to find some pics of him ext to others, couldn't find any good ones
-
-
@macmanus josh is down as 2m in a couple of places...1.8 something probably more like it
-
The friday, North Otago vs Otago XV at Maheno
-
@NateHill74 Parete is off to Japan apparently
-
@Kiwidom do you have a source ?
-
OTD:
Lock and sometimes loose forward Jesse Parete is also thought to be heading for Japan.
-
Count yourself lucky, Parete is garbage.
-
fair enough. That's pretty interesting
-
-
@macmanus surely, they announce those team lists for the match
-
I'd have picked around 1.92/1.93 so that Taranaki listing seems about right to me. Reuben Thorne was 1.92 I think. It's about the absolute minimum to be able to fill in at lock. I'm looking at you, James Blackwell.
-
@NateHill74 Yeah his Wellington contract expired at the end of last ITM Cup and Otago offered him a contract and Wellington hasn’t
-
@mikey07 who are we talking about now?
-
@Kiwiwomble Thomas Umaga-Jensen
-
@mikey07 ok cool, thought we'd moved on to Parete
-
@Kiwiwomble sorry I was just replying to something I had been tagged in a few days ago.
-
now we're having to mention who we're talking about just because we're talking about different players haha
-
@NateHill74 "quote" rather than "reply" is always a safe bet
-
Flynn Thomas isnt at the Southland wider training squad.
-
@macmanus maybe he's injured cause he hasn't been playing for Kaikorai

Freedom Vahaakolo
He should go well in the NPC, a busy outside back. The right decision to leave as there were too many players in front of him
-
...disappointed to see collins named as an outside back
whopper signed up? never really reached his full potential, maybe some age will have done the job
name a captain? (edit) just watched it and Collins to be captain
-
Strange to name only 2 halfbacks in a squad. Is Koroi or someone else cover?
-
@Bovidae no idea, would be disappointed if koroi as i really want him as our first choice 15, someone else maybe though, kaynes obviously been injured too
someone asked the question if collins would play 15 or in the midfield and Tom at least acknowledged he was on a great run of form and they'd be open to him playing there
-
-
@Kiwiwomble Umaga-Jensen and Gilbert very unlucky. Nice squad.
-
The odt did the positions, they weren't named as that position, Boyle and Koroi may end up playing some fullback and Collins into centre. Imaginr if our injuries weren't inured, we would be a real force to be reckoned with
-
Half back replacement in the wtg maybe could be Urquhart and McClea. Maybe they'll be in for an injury
