NRL 2020

It’s hard to know what we’re being penalised for when the referee doesn’t signal for what the penalty was for and there’s no replay. Every time we looked like we’d gotten some momentum or defused a dicey situation we were pinged.
Otherwise that was an effort to be proud of and it’s not the first time this season ive felt that way. I don’t care if we lose when we play like that.
Pops got to go though. I gave him some love early in the season hoping he’d offer something when he came back into the team. Hasn’t offered shit.
Jazz has to sort out that loose carry. He’s a great player but he loses the ball at crucial stages too often.

Hard to say if it’s technique or just bad luck. I remember quite a few years ago Sione Lauaki had a problem losing the ball when he hit the ground after a tackle. He made a few adjustment to the way he held the ball and it made a big difference. Nonu was in the same boat too.
In league the ‘dark arts’ as a defender is getting arms and legs tangled up with ball carrier and with a bit of luck the ball carrier is “careless”
-
@ACT-Crusader Im going with technique. Happens too often to the same player. It’s almost always at a stage where the game is on the line. He goes into the tackle aggressively and I live that. But his carry is one armed and he doesn’t hold it close to his body. The defenders are attacking the ball as much as trying to complete the tackle (because of the situation, they need a turn over)and he drops it.
-
Yeah i think a lot of the modern players carry the ball with poor technique when going into contact ,which is a side effect of the strip rule ,
Back in the day , it could legally be stripped off you, and you held the ball like your life depended on it .

Bunnies v Cowboys was a cracker, won with a last gasp field goal.
The Cowboys will not enjoy the review of their last 3 minutes
-
@mariner4life For a pack full of rep players, the Cowboys are a bit soft in that area. The Bunnies were terrible but almost every time they got in the Cows half they scored. The Bunnies backs Mitchell, Johnston, Graham and Walker were very poor I thought.
-
@African-Monkey the cowboys are playing much less than the sum of their parts

They are us!

so the top 8 looks pretty set now. I can't see any team falling out, and i can't see any jumping up. Tigers to come 9th again.
I think the Roosters will drop out of the top 4. They are so fucked by injury there's not way they hold out the Raiders. If they can get some troops back they can still win it all, but that's looking unlikely now.
Melbourne again look like they will play the GF. Probably against Parra or Penrith.
The coaching merry-go-round looks like being fun. Surely there will be another job open up in Qld. Guys like Green will be naming their price.
Heard Nathan Brown on his weekly spot on MMM yesterday. He spoke pretty well about his hopes for next year, and how he sees his team forming. I am cautiously optimistic.

@mariner4life If he doesn't get buy in from the boys we r fucked

.respectfullyedit: for anyone lurking or new to the Fern(no matter how unlikely they'd be lurking on this thread). This comment was in regard to us not needing any false hope. We need to be perpetually, bitterly disappointed. So that if, not when, but if, there is a glimmer of hope we are reasonably pessimistic when it occurs. Then when that hope goes down in a ball of flames and carnage, it's palatable.
-
@mariner4life I will feel good about the Warriors chances next year only if word comes out that the players are fitter than they have ever been.
-
i heard a couple of rumours we were sniffing around Tevita Pangai Jr now that he has tanked his career
I hope to god we don't. Kid seems like locker room cancer.

So the Warriors who have been spnsored by Vodafone for ages have to go out and find a new sponsor? That is crazy?
I always laugh when I hear the Warriors always get the bad calls and it's like everything is against them. It appears there is some truth to that....
-
@Hooroo The truth hurts ay? The NRL are just piston wristed gibbons and the Warriors a token team. I watch it but I have such low expectations I'm not sure why.
The winner will generally be the club that has the best accountants to hide the salary cap breaches.
