EPL 19/20

First 20 minutes were a bit concerning but Fulham came into the game more and more. Two absolutely gorgeous goals has put them in control but it's not over yet. An early goal to Fulham at the Cottage should kill it though.
Mitrovic will hopefully be back for Thursday as well.
C'mon Swansea
Great free kick from a man called Neeskens who really had to play football with that name. We don't want Cardiff back and hopefully Fulham have learned some lessons from the last time (but knowing football clubs, probably not!)
-
@Higgins Playing Harrogate at Wembley on Saturday for a place in the Football League.
Yes it is very exciting. Harrogate is one of the smaller clubs at that level and Notts about the biggest so it is a bit of a David v Goliath contest. We really need to go up - then it is just 3 more seasons until we're back at the top level!
-
@dogmeat Fulham hang on but were outplayed for most of the match.
Brentford must be heavily favoured. Did the double against Fulham 1-0 at home and 2-0 at The Cottage Had a GD of 42 across the season compared with Fulham's 16. Which says it all really. Fulham play very attractive football but just lack that last 5% in both penalty areas - despite having the top scorer in the Championship - Mitrovic who is in doubt for Tuesday having missed both play off games. Plus the Bees have an extra day to prepare.
Still we have a starters chance
-
@dogmeat Haha. Never in doubt! I'd like to see Brentford go up just to see another team in the top flight that haven't been there in my lifetime. If it's Fulham then that's 2 bouncing straight back up and at least one of them will go straight back down. Brentford probably will to but they will be a novelty
-
@KiwiPie You are DEAD TO ME!
Seriously, Brentford would be a nice story, but they have way less chance of surviving in the Premiership than Fulham. They obviously don't see themselves as a top echelon club. I mean they build a brand new stadium with capacity of 17,000 FFS.
Whoever doesn't go up the predators will start circling. If it is Fulham I hope they have learned how to recruit and we won't see 9 transfers on deadline day again.
BTW The Baggies spent two years in the Championship
As an aside we have now said goodbye to the only ground (Griffin Park) with a pub at every corner of the ground. Their was a fifth pub (now closed) about another 30 metres down Ealing Road - The Bricklayers Arms. The Bricklayers was the club room (and training ground) of the last rugby team I ever played for and also the last place I ever worked behind the bar - one Xmas Day when they were swamped under.
GO FULHAM!

I'd like to see Brentford go up
Notts County lost 3-1 in their playoff to Harrogate
Fucking Karma
Come on the mighty Bees (is that their nickname?). I honestly don't mind Fulham going up but I have a Brentford supporting friend who will be over the moon to see his name in the top flight for the first time in his lifetime.
Meanwhile, I'm fairly sure Notts will now plunge into a relegation battle next season and see if we can find another league to get to know.

Brentford haven't played in the top flight since the 1946-7 season. They were a top six side in the late 1930s. 40,000 fans used to watch at Griffin Park in the Spring of 1939.But a number of their players never returned after the Second World War. Others had loss pace and touch with age.
Tomorrow their club has a chance to rejoin the big boys after a 73-year wait.

And while we are wallowing in history, the season they were last relegated from the top flight they went down with Leeds (who they may now go up with) and Liverpool won the title. Manchester City and Burnley were promoted to replace Brentford and Leeds. Grimsby Town were in the first division and have since dropped out the league altogether and returned.

Sky Sports are reporting that 20-year oldJadon Sancho is close to agreeing personal terms for a move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United in what will be one of the biggest moves in EPL history:
Still a bit of a gamble if it is 90 million given the much more open game it is in Germany and you might argue they are strengthening the area where they are strongest (as are Chelsea with their signings).

I am disappointed not to see @Hooroo basking in Arsenal's FA Cup win.
We continue the 25-yr run of playing in Europe and relegate Spurs to the qualifying rounds of the Europa League. A win-win.
Mikel Arteta becomes the first person to win the FA Cup as a captain and coach. Arsenal have now won 10% of the FA Cups played.
-
0-0 at half time in the most import ant game played anywhere this
yearever.Fulham have had the better of a typically cagey first 45 having totally shackled the Bees normally free scoring front three.
Mitrovic, Fulham's talisman striker is on the bench. How fit 8is he and when will he be introduced?
A single (Fulham) goal could be enough to settle this decider, but surely if one is scored it will open the game up. Fulham have picked up a yellow already.
Having had the best of the first half I predict Fulham will concede in the first three minutes of the second period

That's because I am a bit embarrassed that I missed it. I was going to go to the pub to watch in Auckland but I got too hammered the previous night and didn't set an alarm.
We are such a good FA cup team!
