@Smudge and @Hooroo i would love to hear your thoughts on Bowman's actions in the 1st at Rosehill that caused that fall?

From my admittedly very layman perspective, it was a fucking terrible piece of riding that has resulted in a serious injury to a jockey, and the death of a very promising horse. IMO he should get a huge suspension for that.

Was talking about that yesterday at golf.

Do you ban on the action or the severity of the result? In my mind you have to take in a lot of the outcome into the punishment. Could have killed jockey but that is same for any poor riding that is deemed reckless.

The death of the horse is the kicker for me (regardless if it was a promising horse or not) Someone just had upwards of $100,000 dollars burnt because of a reckless Jockey and worse is that poor horse should not be dead.

So in my mind he has months and months off! He won't get that though.

    When is the hearing?

EDIT: and I also think "Harm to the industry" has to be added to the suspension.

the hearing is on-going because they want to talk to Adkins. Won't know the outcome until the weekend at the least.

I've never seen a move like it. He turns at 45 degrees and just throws his horse in front of the others. It is even worse because there was an opening to head inside he ignored.

He's 100% in the wrong, and it will take some weasel words for NSW Racing to let him off because he is a star jockey.

Any rumours on likely ban length??

Do you know what date The Havarovian last ran? Trying to find him to throw onto my TAB tracker

    @mariner4life

    Jesus. Give him months.

That really takes me back in time; I could just imagine Mr. Lawson barreling into the Stipes' room with an ashen look on his face. Those types of incidents were fucking horrible and made for very long days (my uni part time job was on camera crew and playback for the Stipes).

In his early evidence before the hearing was adjourned, Bowman tried to claim his actions were forced by the horse in front of him. But when you see the yawning gap towards the rail, it's a weak argument. The sharpness of the angle was the worst thing - gave those horses outside him absolutely no chance to adjust:

*“I endeavoured to make a run to the outside of Glyn Schofield (Mr Colourful), which I had every right to and, in doing so, I was going to have to move Andrew slightly but I felt that I was able to do so,” Bowman reportedly told stewards.

“There was a shift by the horse in front of me (Mr Colourful) and I was committed to the move that I made.

“I felt at the time I made the call to go to the outside of Glyn I could do so without causing any interference to Andrew.”*

I suspect he'll get 3 months. Back just in time for the spring carnival. Depends on whether it's careless, reckless or dangerous riding on the "charge sheet".

It was Farken horrific to watch. I even had money on hot n hazy which wasn’t going too well then that happened....nasty stuff

And the Harrovian...gee that need to try take that thing to town again for a decent race at the city tracks rather than bloody cairns etc.

Anyone see Bryan race in the weekend? In Toowoomba now, after a short stint in Perth and just about everywhere else in Aussie. It really has raced just about everywhere in Aus. Will prob turn up down in tassie next

    this is hearsay but

Apparently the Harrovian is going to do another stint here. The owner is the president of the jockey club, and lo and behold they created a WFA race for decent money up here...

I have been told the horse just does not travel well.

Owning Sunlight would have been pretty good

    Cost $300k. Wins 3 x Group 1s, and over $6.4M in prizemoney.

Then sells for $4.2M as a brood mare

That's a tasty wee time isn't it? The thrill of racing it through Group ones and getting the bonus payment at the end.

We train a geilding that will sell well and can win tomorrow. The owner has been offered good coin unraced and but is unsure if he wants the good money or the thrill of racing a really nice horse.

On the opposite side. We had a filly that sold for $300k as a yearling who as a rising 4 year old has done jack and just got sold back to Maroney's for $43k.

I think Winx was purchased for between 250k and 300k (AUD) I love that horse!!!
