Wow, SBC lost to Waimea Combined. That's a shocker. I wonder if being an away game they had some guys who didn't travel? Wow.
Meanwhile that CC vs CBHS game was an absolute stonker. I despise the Syrups marginally less than the Jersey Pullers so I enjoyed it greatly. And there was even celebrity offspring playing half back for Christ's, for extra interest.
I always wonder why families change schools. The Hammett lads went to St Thomas's but now Chris Hammetts' son is at CC. Mark and Chris' sister went to Villa Maria so maybe that was just the Catholic upbringing now having lapsed a generation on. Similarly, a mate's son was on the bench for CC. The Dad went to St Bedes but sent his sons to CC for the post-quake facilities which Bedes lacked. I'm not sure what Jason Gunns' story is though

Good win for PNBHS
Palmy might be the favourites in the Super 8 this year. I'll see them live next Sat.
Look forward to the report!

Hamilton BHS 17 (5) - Palmerston North BHS 10 (3)
PNBHS played with a strong wind in the 1st half but didn't really look like scoring a try. Ham BHS scored just before HT from a tighthead near the Palmy goal line. The 2nd half was more even but Ham BHS scored 2 further tries, the last from a break near halfway where 1st 5 Kemara kicked ahead and regathered to score under the posts, to lead 17-3. Palmy finally crossed the line with a couple of minutes to play despite some outstanding defence from Ham BHS for 2-3 mins near their line. The ref then played a lot of added time and blew his pea out of the whistle so Palmy ended camped in Ham BHS's half before a final knock-on sealed the match.
PNBHS have some giants in their team. Both starting props are Tameifuna-like in size, and their midfield duo are both 100 kg+. A good result for Ham BHS with 5 regular starters missing, including their captain.
