Gamesmanship. Like bowling a short leg stump line because you've run out of plans. And talent.
-

So fair to say hopes rest on the not particularly broad shoulders of KW once again. Him and Anderson/Watling performing ridiculously heroic deeds and getting the team out of this look pretty appealing but with two full days left it's fair to say we're 99% fucked given that this "average" Aussie batting line up has more than enough time to mop everything up.

I like your Scottish misery. It invigorates me.

However, one thing we haven't had in a few tries is a ridiculous middle order collapse. Don't count it out.
-

My dourness knows no bounds......

I was lead to believe that this was an average Aussie team but fuck a duck, three average round 50, el capitain can be ugly to watch but averages close to 60. Aw and there's the undismissable Adam Voges. Even Mitch Marsh can't balance that lot out.

So stop with that "middle order collapse" underdog shit.
-

Averaging 50 ain't what it used to be.

Smith's 'close to 60' is probably worth more like 50 in the old money. And those 50s are akin to 40s.
-

Not underdog at all. We should win this by lunch time tomorrow if the bowlers do their shit right.

But like I said, the collapse is a thing. You can try to deny it, but sit still for a moment and remember I know more about cricket than you. Its my birthright as an Aussie
-

Yep we've spoken about that at great length on here.

Aaahh feck

a big cup full of reality I guess. Not deriding the BC's efforts but really we just don't have the cattle performing to prove anything except we've defo improved, will probably never be ranked 1 in the world and we're squeezing the best outof all we've got on a much more regular basis

5 tests vs the ockers and we're going to go down 4-0. Sure the games were probably closer than the scorecards suggest but we quite simply have had a bout 8 goes at bowling the fluffybunnys out cheaply and have failed.

Bowlers need to look at that fact - perhaps we've overestimated them or more likely they just haven't stepped up to the plate vs the best opposition

But it's not all doom and gloom, we're playing better than we have for years, and we can match or beat anyone on our day, and the cricket and style the boys play makes me proud, even if the stellar results don't always come.

Are we the Ireland rugby team of cricket?

So, well done Baz and the 2 Mikes in management, could Kane do a Waugh and better the captaincy of his predecessor (quite possibly) and Jurgensen i'm happy for you to be a stinkin Aussie if only you can teach our boys to reverse swing the ball after 20 overs!

Onwards and Upwards lads!!

ps it's great to see no shit fights between the 2 teams too - long may that continue :)
-

Hey Nick and Barbs and other ockers

You should be pleased with your team v us this summer - best they've played in 12 months. It's clear Boof took on a bit of a rebuild of plans executions and strategies following the Ashes and he really has changed things for the better - a fine coach indeed, as was evident when he was with Queensland. Captain still sooks and moans a bit to the press though that can be fixed ;)

Did you see Australian Story about Barry "Nugget" Rees the other week - a fantastic story. I wonder how many fisheads questioned the need for his involvements only to be told to go and get fucked by the great players. :)
-

12 months? Maybe longer. Humping a dishevelled England out here last Ashes tour was barely noteworthy after we let crucial chances slip and had our top order exposed in England.

Boof apparently gave Pattinson an absolute spray after the no-ball thing in the first innings. Was his ONLY noball, accordiing to the scorecard. So far 2nd innings has none.
-

Yeah our batting order looks much stronger now. Burns, Khawaja and Voges have all stepped up in a big way, which is great to see. We are as stable as we have been in 5 or so years.

Mitch Marsh is still a giant question mark. Obviously has talent but needs runs, luckily no-one seems to be banging down the door for his place at the moment.

It's been a bit disappointing that the BCs couldn't get it going, especially with the ball. Considering how fragile we can be against swing I thought we'd be ripped apart once or twice, but it just hasn't happened.
-
We've forgotten how to swing it this year.

Hope Jurgensen sorts that out. -

I think they'll give him time (well as much as you can in Oz cricket).

His bowling as the 4th seamer is the goods and it allows the favoured balance of 3 quicks and Lyon. He's got the raw ingredients, as you said, of Watto and they gave him a lot of opportunities.

One thing all the successful teams have taught us is if you think they've got the real mental and physical talent, then perservere. e.g. Steve Smith

Interesting listening to cricketers commentate, Punter, KP, Flintoff etc they're flaberghasted that the public laymen bag Watto, they see him as a pretty much auto selection and opposition feared and rated him
