Pattinson sorted his shit out from the first innings, at least - all 3 wickets, bowling at < 3 RPO. Ably supported by Bird whose figures look better.

The worse thing about Guptill is failing in a test sries affects his confidence in the shorter frmats and knocks him out of form for a while.

Latham really makes you angry learn a lesson for f sake.

Just noted something interesting in Pattinson and Hazlewood bowling together:

Both 17 matches

Both 69 wickets

Both average between 25-26

Both 25 (Pattinson will be 26 in a week)

Pattinson is appealing for everything like an Indian cricketer.

Unlike Jeff Thomsons description of Bruce Edgar it looks very possible that McCullum WILL die of a stroke at some stage.....

Comon cricket gods, is it too much to ask for Baz to come off just one more time?

Fucking hell NQ do you want to curse the bloke a bit more? FFS!

Apparently a really good catch from Warner after McCullum had tonked the previous one.

Game over now. Thanks for everything Baz, guess ya had to have a go but those that live by the sword die by it as well. Hat's off for being about the most unselfish cricketer I can think of offhand, superb team man.

Statistically speaking McCullum has produced the best final Test in history by a captain 170 runs.

They'd be staring down the barrel of a much bigger deficit if he hadn't delivered. Great work from the Wag.

Goes without saying at least someone from the top four needs a really big score after some limp efforts, not only that but to get them at a reasonably decent clip too given we're right on half way in the match.

Was thinking it was day 4.

So fair to say hopes rest on the not particularly broad shoulders of KW once again. Him and Anderson/Watling performing ridiculously heroic deeds and getting the team out of this look pretty appealing but with two full days left it's fair to say we're 99% fucked given that this "average" Aussie batting line up has more than enough time to mop everything up.

Gamesmanship. Like bowling a short leg stump line because you've run out of plans. And talent.

I like your Scottish misery. It invigorates me.

However, one thing we haven't had in a few tries is a ridiculous middle order collapse. Don't count it out.

My dourness knows no bounds......

I was lead to believe that this was an average Aussie team but fuck a duck, three average round 50, el capitain can be ugly to watch but averages close to 60. Aw and there's the undismissable Adam Voges. Even Mitch Marsh can't balance that lot out.

So stop with that "middle order collapse" underdog shit.

Averaging 50 ain't what it used to be.

Smith's 'close to 60' is probably worth more like 50 in the old money. And those 50s are akin to 40s.
