NZ v Australia Test #2
-

Well that was fun - and historic. Fastest ever test 100 after 140 years or so - most of the rest made by players going for their shots with nothing to lose (Richards and Gilchrist anyway, can't remember the circumstances of Misbah's 56 ball ton). BMac comes in at nothing for 3 with a run rate of virtually zero and breaks the record - madness. His usual mixture of horrible swipes and fantastic hits. The shot for his second ball was terrible, a cross-bat swipe that flew over first slip. But then the charges down the pitch, some fantastic cricket shots and the Aussie bowlers couldn't bowl a length to him because they didn't know where he would be. The fact that it was his final test is quite sad really, it is unlikely there will never be another batsman like him.

Awful shots by Anderson and Southee to get out. Anderson batted really well but what was he thinking with that? And Southee - I know you have no defensive technique but you don't have to hit every ball in the air.

Incredible day for stattos - Williamson was on 3 after 54 balls, BMac on 100 - surely there can have never been such a difference in strike rates between 2 players who had a partnership.

NZ were 32-2 off 19.4 when McCullum walked in. 46 overs later, they have score 338 more runs - that's well over 7 runs per over and a superb ODI score.
-

Yep, an amazing day's cricket ...

And then after this Test we can watch Super Rugby next Friday.

Bloody brilliant, eh?
-

We do have an extra long tail this test. With BJ still there I'm hopeful we can grind out to 340 with Wagner (whose technique is sound).

Well if that useless Williamson had of hit 10 4s off some of his dots we'd of been over 400 -

It's just the sight of a band of tape on his wrist isn't it??? I'd imagine surgical gloves would make it more difficult to catch the ball
-

Does rotated write for the Herald? -
Boult gets Waj, big wicket.
-

Yep. Current form of The Waj, that could be a big dent in our total.

Smith has under performed of late with the bat, so between he and Burns and Voges we need to consolidate and bat the next two days.

Burns has now faced 100 balls, making his the longest innings in that facet.
