Definitely not a poach, because he was born in Auckland (according to his own Facebook page). He must have moved to Brisbane at some point and then gone back to Auckland to attend St Kent's. He played for NZ Schools in 2018 and 2019.
As I mentioned previously, Tiaan's brother Keynan was in the Aust Schools team last year, having attended St Kents himself. Aust has re-poached them.

Australia Super Rugby's 'low-hanging fruit' that fans weren't happy to welcome back
After almost four months of inactivity, Super Rugby returned to Australia on Friday night in the form of the new Super Rugby AU competition - but not every aspect of the new competition was welcome with open arms.

That's not quite fair. The limit was only changed from 10,000 to 25,000 on the Thursday before the game.
The logistical exercise (working out the necessary ticketing requirements) just couldn't be completed in time. If it had they would have certainly had a higher crowd than what they did.

@barbarian I'm with you till the last bit. They only got half the known crowd size. Now they've got a win, the crowds might start coming back.
