South: Taylor, Coltman, ... Makalio (although his first province was - according to Wikipedia - Wairarapa-Bush, does Heartland count?)
Sorry, do you know where the 'rapa is? It ain't in the South Island!

For North:
Hodgman on the bench at loosehead.
Rettalick isn't available. Goodhue to start. GCT is a bench option. Any other lock options? Not much depth.
ALB/Ioane is probably better than Laumape/ALB.
Robinson to start at six, Savea on the bench.
Black on the bench.
Must be a better option than Aso.
For South: Oli Jaeger is a tighthead not a loosehead.
-
@Tim Savea on the bench? Is this another joke of yours?
Didn't Hodgman play for Canterbury first aswell?

Yeah, Hodgman did. He replaces Jaeger.

No love for the forgotten man, MMT.

Auckland has been mentioned so likely Eden Park.
-
Shannon Frizell, maybe in the mix for the South as well
Josh Dickson, Pari Pari Parkinson if Scott Barrett is still Injured. -
No Dalton Papali'i in your teams ? (no Luke Jacobson either ?).

"Chiefs flanker Luke Jacobson has been ruled out of the remainder of Super Rugby Aotearoa due to injury."
Might be a factor, timing wise.
I'd have Dalton on the bench, covers 6 and 7.

I would like to echo what other people say about the silly elibigility criteria. However, I don't see the point in this sort of game at all, whatever the criteria. We are already having each team playing 8 Super Rugby derbies in a row - do we really need more of the same. I would rather the players just have a rest and get into Mitre 10 Cup.

Agreed, I have little interest in this game outside of it's a game of rugby.
TBH, if they want an extra game then I'd rather they have a final to the Super Rugby Aotearoa than a North v South almost, kinda, sorta of origin.

@Canes4life Jack Goodhue? Luke Jacobson? Taukeiaho

- Sam Whitelock
- Cullen Grace
- James Lentjies
- Gareth Evans
- Brad Webber
- Richie Mo'unga
- George Bridge
- Jordie Barrett
- Jack Goodhue
- Will Jordan
- David Havili
- Liam Coltman
- Oli Jager
- Nepo Laulaula

- Braydon Ennor
Oli Jager ? Isn't he an Irishman ? There's probably a better nz choice and you have selected him as a LHP while he is a specialist THP.
-
Lentjies is also done for the season so the SI needs to find another no.7. Harmon or Christie I suppose. Maybe Evans plays there.

I picked my teams (based on school) months ago and I'm sticking to them. I just need to track down Foster.

Get @Snowy to do it, he's good at that sort of thing

Have you got a link to those school based teams?
Im interested to see how the distribution of players would change based on schools. -

Im interested to see how the distribution of players would change based on schools.Even 'school' is a dodgy criteria given the poaching that goes on. First school or last school?
Usually within an island though, I guess. -

Usually within an island though, I guess.Yeah, good point. I guess the way to get around that would be to allow players with connections to both islands to nominate for the island feel connected to most.

It doesn’t really matter anyway, this is just a way of doing a “trial” game and fitting in most of the players.

Far out! I reckon!!! Way for everyone to get all twisted about how it is being put together.

You don't think the North Island versing South Island rivalry will be bought up on here at all ? It is the point of the whole thing to add some tension / adversarial contest to a "trial" as a team sport.
With one team actually winning, there will be those that rub it in if the North lose (as an example) all part of the fun, but there can't be any excuses like "half your players were ours anyway".

In my mind this is just a random trial given a silly name. Call it what you want, it's just a trial and it won't become a fixture.

Probably correct about it becoming a fixture but North v South has some history and there will be some that are more passionate about it.
And gloat
and brag
and troll.South islanders are just like that.

Just make it island of the school you were at when you first got laid?

I agree, but as soon as you call it 'North v South' you make it more than just a trial, and people start arguing about where the origin actually is.
Would be amusing if we had folk from Stewart or Chatham Islands playing
