Jeez you can't do anything but praise Sir Kane.

Sure he is our best batsman but he hasn't batted well in two tests in a row VS Aus now. Not hanging him out to dry just saying some of the praise was reaching Richie McCaw or Richard Hadlee level at 25 when it is still early days.

The criticism was valid but he had 2 outstanding years culminating in gaining number 1 in the world status - if you want to call that a purple patch, you really need to wait for a longer slump ....

Tests: 85 innings, 13 hundreds at an average of 49.93.

ODIs: 87 innings, 7 hundreds at an average of 47.00

We are well beyond "he's an average player that just had a purple patch" and into "he is one of NZs best ever batsmen.

I can understand where Tubby is coming from.

To win this series, we needed Kane to step up and score big. And he hasn't.

I think it's more of a case of what he will become, he's not in the league of either Richard, and perhaps never will be, but will still break all the New Zealand batting records.

He's the only one in our top order whom I consider likely to score big against this attack.

Fucking oath. I couldn't have imagined he'd fuck up his comeback THAT badly.

Expect Pattinson for the next Test. Prick better be fit by now.

So, lunch Day 4.

Hazlewood can't actually get a back rub at lunch time because he's so fucking hard at the thought of getting the cherry back in hand.

Yeah, going into the series I knew we'd need Rosco and Kane to score big, as the others were likely to have their technique exposed. As it turns out Rosco got injured, and Kane got out to some very good length bowling. When the ball nips away off a good length time and time again there isn't a lot you can do except hope you miss it.

I never said he was average just falling back towards the pack. No doubt he will still end up being if not the top of the pack somewhere close but over the last two seasons it appeared he was going to be so far ahead it wasn't funny. People where already saying he had surpassed Martine Crowe as our best batsman ever.

Does everyone here reckon Anderson might be gone ? Tried very hard, one of the best caught and bowleds you'll ever see.....but ultimately a bit ordinary all things considered.

the question is, who comes in? and what do they need to bring to the side?

Does one of the bowlers need to be dropped as well? Or do we stick with the same 11, and hope this whole game was just a really bad 4 days at the office.

To blatantly steal something I read on facebook I wonder whether Mark Craig could be the next Mark Richardson ?

Unlikely, but some parallels are there. For all the shit he gets as a bowler ( from me amongst others ) you cant fault his dedication, determination and ability with the willow in hand.

Taylor back = keep Nicholls, and let the part-time spinners stand up against the argument for Craig, by dropping him.

That's the most insightful thing I've ever seen you post about cricket, awesome work !

I think the jury is still out whether or not he could competently front crappy home renovation tv shows though.
