Pooh bum wees.

I'd have taken 3 down at stumps. Was hoping it would only be 2 ... but fuck.

Bmac had to DRS it but that was so plumb i was wondering what the umpire was waiting for when he took so long to give it.

Hopefully Nicholls gets some time at the crease. He's looked useful.

Disappointed with the openers dismissals. No need for those shots. But, fatigue.

Anyone else reckon Kane is struggling? He looked quite out of sorts in the ODIs even when he was scoring runs.

Any rain forecast? Where's that cyclone?

Gah, was so peeved at that BMac wicket. Only three more bloody deliveries to negotiate before stumps. 0 and 10 are not the kind of numbers you want to leave a ground with.

Latham looked solid, but yeah agree, Williamson seems to be in a mini slump at the moment. Really hoping that Nicholls can stay put for a bit, and we get some rear guard action from Watling, Anderson and Craig.

And totally agree that having to come out and bat one over is fucking ridiculous. Why couldn't they have taken a slightly early lunch??

BMac shows the best (ODIs) and the worst (Test1) of him all in the space of a couple of weeks. Looks like we are going down screaming, the rain is coming on Wednesday, sadly too late to save us

Masterful bowling plan to Williamson, bowl stumps to stumps tailing in with 2 players short on the leg-side - ties him down and gets him expecting to play the ball. Hazlewood then moves them away and Williamson's feet are planted and he fends. Passed the bat a couple of times before he got him. It appears Australia bowl to a plan when there is nothing much happening. (Helps with a lead of nearly 400). Not quite sure if the NZ bowlers had a plan - unless it was to bowl 1-2 medium paced short balls per over.

As for Guptill - no he can't bat like that in a test match if he wants to open - he's there to bat for a long time, not just a good time.

Baz is averaging 27 in tests since Jan 2015. Worse at home and worst of all against Oz.

He had that amazing run from the Windies tour in Dec 2015 to the SL one 12 mths later but since then sadly his form has crashed.

This test has played out almost exactly as we all would have predicted after that first session on Friday.

Fuck it!

Dunno, probably worse in some ways if everyone else does well, you sit on your arse for 1.5days then get to spend the next 1.5 in the outfield copping abuse form the crowd haha...but you are there to bat, and get out cheaply, all you have to look forward to is fielding and the 2nd innings, which you then fail in as well!

Today isn't quite as sunny, perhaps the Black Caps should try the "bad light" card ?

but then you don't have to sit around for as long watching your team mates knock it about...I guess asking Warner would be a good gauge.

But that's when you play your 'its a team game' card :)

Opening the batting can really suck. Turning up to a 6 hour game and being out within the first 5 minutes is not fun. You just feel like throwing your toys out the cot going home.

It's a funny one, some are against keepers opening for example but twists of fate mean that said keeper will get the odd duck or low score here and there.

Fuck, NTAs favourite strikes.....another nail in the coffin.

Even Mitch Marsh their 4th bowler and version of Corey Anderson looks better than all our bowlers have on this pitch.

NZ under Bond seemed to do what the Aussie have done here bowl consistently to a simple plan, work on pace and show patience.

NZ under Maschrenas don't focus on pace and have either no plan or multiple plans that change over to over even during an over. No consistency or patience.
