Right, someone remind these top order blokes that it's not a T20 innings that they're batting in.

The whites should have been a give away, but apparently not on Friday.

We've seen this group of players fight tooth and nail from this sort of situation in the past couple of years. I expect them to do the same today.

Don't want to put the jinx on but Latham has been very impressive today. He got out defending one he didn't need to play at in the first innings, so Hazlewood has put the ball in the same channel relentlessly today and he has left pretty much all of them, nulifying Hazlewoods threat. Exactly what I want to see from our openers.

In saying that.... I'm not too fussed about Guptill's dismissal, he's a confidence player so needs to play his shots. I think the way he played should probably be the blue print for him moving forward.

And in typing that Kane is gone caught behind. Huge wicket.

Ah shit. This test really is a clusterfuck of epic proportions. We are dead and buried now, only way forward is to go down fighting and come back and do our darndest to win the next test. As I think Mariner mentioned the batting is weak when Williamson doesn't fire and due to the swings and roundabout nature of cricket there are times when he won't. Bracewell was unlucky, Craig was as shit as many thought he'd be.....when are Taylor and Santner due back ?

That gutsy fighting long overdue innings from Watling will come in handy some time tomorrow that's for damn sure but it's re arranging the deckchairs on the titanic ( Ooooo am I allowed to say that or are ship related jokes a no no ? )

.....and who woulda thought Wellington would have so many days in a row with no rain ? unthinkable.

Wasn't sending that message. More about a ship in a NZ harbour. Apologies

    Pooh bum wees.

I'd have taken 3 down at stumps. Was hoping it would only be 2 ... but fuck.

Bmac had to DRS it but that was so plumb i was wondering what the umpire was waiting for when he took so long to give it.

Hopefully Nicholls gets some time at the crease. He's looked useful.

Disappointed with the openers dismissals. No need for those shots. But, fatigue.

Anyone else reckon Kane is struggling? He looked quite out of sorts in the ODIs even when he was scoring runs.

Any rain forecast? Where's that cyclone?

Gah, was so peeved at that BMac wicket. Only three more bloody deliveries to negotiate before stumps. 0 and 10 are not the kind of numbers you want to leave a ground with.

Latham looked solid, but yeah agree, Williamson seems to be in a mini slump at the moment. Really hoping that Nicholls can stay put for a bit, and we get some rear guard action from Watling, Anderson and Craig.

And totally agree that having to come out and bat one over is fucking ridiculous. Why couldn't they have taken a slightly early lunch??
