Well, after all the covid shit has started to settle, one corner of Aussie rugby is doing alright: mine.

The $7k in grants I applied for under NSW sport were announced as successful today. Just got to sign the acceptance and that puts a few of the financial worries to bed.

Especially considering they rang me earlier in the year and talked about how only one grant might get up due to budget constraints.

David Elliott is the local MP and emergency services Minister; was in a spot of bother at the time over being in Europe while fires were happening at the time.

If that doesn't say a bit about our current state of political discourse. It should be obvious he had an alibi.

Great news Nick. What were the grants for, specifically? How will they help the club?

$5k was "Player registration and equipment subsidy" - i.e. helping pay for the registration costs. Usually a grade would cost about $4K to cover registration, RA fee, insurance. This year everything is gone except the insurance which has been pro-rated from $2150 down to $1900 🙄 generous AON, you crunts.

As we plan to field 2 Grades this year, and Subbies have pretty much waived everything from their side, it'll be closer to $4K total. So we're covered! We've dropped rego from $150 to $100 as a result of the shortened season - $50 of our rego is kit costs so that is pretty much fixed.

$2k was "Coaching and Admin" - we have a policy of paying for any of our members to attend coaching, refereeing, or other courses that directly assist the club, plus printing and other costs in running the club like marketing, consumables, etc.

New kit has arrived as well - our jerseys are going back to a design style we started with in 2007.

I've done them a mischief there: its $1680 per grade. So that helps

NSW Subbies will start 18th July for Divs 2-5 and 25th July Division 1.

Hopefully everything keeps on a downward trajectory for the COVID thing and we can just get on with it.

@Bovidae i hate those sort of articles

The whole thing reads like "it's Cheika's fault. And the players. But not mine, i knew what the issues were" so that his next job interview is easier
