NZ v Australia Test #1
-

I played a game once in the sub continent, morning start. Opening bowler, never bowls no balls, first ball of the game gets called for a noey

I was captain so walked over to the ump to try to apply a bit of pressure and ask where he overstepped.

There was a perfect spiked imprint of his whole foot inches behind the line. Ump duly goes through the charade of showing where he "overstepped"

total lie

Conclusion: No one knows what goes through the minds of these fluffybunnys

Had to laugh at the wags caught on the microphones when Latham was being referred and snicko was showing - "that could have come from anywhere" :)
-

By the way, at the top levels, the notion (as Snowy said) of the batsman hearing the no ball call and being able to react and change his shot is a myth

Hard enough to do with spinners, such is the expectation and concentration required to bat

liked the way Craig brushed it off in the presser after:

"We didn't see it till we came off," offspinner Mark Craig said.

"There was obviously going to be a little bit of a disappointment [about that] but again, like I said just before, you can't do much about it now so we'll just look forward to tomorrow."

Craig's line was that "once his arm goes out there's not much you can do about it" and he stuck to it doggedly, during his press conference at the close of play.

With successful and dominating teams like Man U, ABs, Auckland rugby back in the day, Aus cricket, the perception that they get the rub of the green a lot is hard to refute, true or not
-

Im not sure if there is any factual evidence , but in most sports , opposition supporters swear by it ,

I personally think there is a connection quite often with successful teams being able to push the boundaries of the law better than the rest , some will call it cheating
-

Gotta love Steve Smith.

Even though the Aussies have proven their superiority in cricket today they don't win many admirers for sportsmanship.

How for so? -

There's Australias revenge for the Marsh fiasco. Absolute BULLSHIT and so hard on a bloke who deserves success.

It's so much worse then the Marsh fiasco because in this instance the correct decision has not been made, and in a tight test where runs are at a premium it has cost us dearly.

cant you review that?

Surely it would only be revenge if Marsh was clearly not out, but given out...?

Aussies probably feel it's some sort of karma. But as has been pointed out the wrong decision was made. Unlike Monday.

It could have been reviewed i reckon. But who of the nzers would be looking at the front foot to risk wasting s review.

Suggest in a situation where a wicket goes down off a no ball it shoul autoatically be reviewed by the third ump. Failure in process imo.

English umpires are the best in the world apparently. How the fuck he thought that was a no ball defies belief.

Can't even get angry at Voges who unlike Marsh had no idea he wasn't not out. -
Yeah with no replays, the player on field will have had no idea it was a poor call.

Because cheating fucking dirty fucking AUSSIE fucking Australians, that's how!

Well that's to be expected though. Did he sook again like the other night?

Back to the no ball and the concept of being able to change your shot. Won't comment on the ability to do so in the reaction time. But if i was going to change my shot on a call of "no ball" am not sure I'd change it to a leave... -

you could try Theacc....

or just listen on the PC, which is working?

Not a single thing has gone right for us this test, from losing the toss, to poor shot selection in the top order, to drop catches, to dodgy umpiring. It's been a fucking disaster.
-

Jeez I love Usman Khawaja. Don't think I've seen such a dominant summer, he just never looks like getting out. And such a strong bottom hand...

Yeah - it's looking like an absolute shellacking. Oz already 55 ahead, still 7 wickets standing. They'd be a bit disappointed if they end up only leading by 250 on the first innings.
-

The Waj is in the form of his life, and nearly anyone else's while we're at it. This is his fourth first-innings century in a row, and his first overseas. Takes some doing.

Need to bat to 550 (seems to be Smith's magic number) but we're yet to bowl an evening session at this point, so not sure what Smith will do there.
-
