NBA season 2019/20

I was watching an interview with Woj last night. The problem is that some of the sub 0.500 teams don't seem that interested in resuming the season with little to play for, while others want to be involved despite a remote chance of being competitive in the playoffs. And then some of the small market teams have been vocal in needing to play for their survival. The NBA will need to keep all parties happy.

make them play.
22 teams is too many anyway. The East already had their playoff teams sorted out, the Wizards are 6 games back in 9th
In the West maybe Portland could get in being only 3 back, but fuck 'em. Win more during the regular season.
Realistically only 3 teams can win the comp anyway.
-
@Bovidae The problem is there is quite a big gap between some of the playoff teams & fringe playoff teams. Dallas (7th) has 11 more wins than Portland (9th) in the West and for example.
@mariner4life Yeah that's the other problem - Portland are basically on the same wins as 2/3 other teams so if you let Portland in you might as well let the others in. Plus one of the 'others' has Zion so that will help tv viewership.

To answer my own question:
The NBA has been advancing on a plan that would include regular-season, play-in and playoff games for the 16 teams currently holding playoff position -- and six more teams within six games of the eighth seed in each conference, sources said. Those teams include New Orleans, Portland, San Antonio, Sacramento and Phoenix in the Western Conference -- and Washington in the East, sources said.

@KiwiMurph The unknown is whether the 22 teams would be the best 11 from each conference or the 22 teams with the best overall record. It should be the top 22 teams based on their overall record.
If it's the latter, the West is extremely well represented. I knew the Suns were a play off team this season.

Aiming for a July 31 start.
The NBA board of governors voted Thursday to approve a 22-team format to restart the 2019-20 season in Orlando, Florida, the league announced. Under the plan, 13 Western Conference teams and nine Eastern Conference teams will play eight regular-season "seeding" games, a possible play-in tournament for the eighth seed and playoffs at the Walt Disney World Resort. The top 16 teams in the Eastern and Western conferences will be joined by teams currently within six games of eighth place in the two conferences -- New Orleans, Portland, San Antonio, Sacramento, Phoenix and Washington. The play-in tournament will include the No. 8 and No. 9 teams in a conference -- if the ninth seed finishes the regular season within four games of the eighth. In that case, the No. 9 seed would need to beat No. 8 seed twice to earn the playoff berth, while the No. 8 would need one win from the two potential games.

I'm all Lakers this year. My man Alex Caruso is going to lead them home.
If not them, I'd be happy to see Giannis get a ring. Not the Clippers, not Houston , and certainly not Philly
Can't see anyone challenging the Lakers , Clips or Bucks really.

If the Clippers get up, does that mean Kawhi is really the best player in the league?

He will be the only man to win the title with 3 different teams I believe (LBJ is on two teams as well). If he isn't the first the club must be pretty damn small. I can't think of any other centre piece player in their prime that has done it

he'll get finals MVP if they win too. 3 rings at 3 teams with 3 MVPs? that's unreal.
And lets not forget, one of those teams is in fucking Canada!
