Kane Watch

Current Test average = 49.93.

To take his career average to 50 at end of this Test needs:

5 runs = not dismissed

55 runs = dismissed once

105 runs = dismissed twice

Go, Kane!

Shit Tim is getting a hard time from the fernies at the moment.

Tims test series bowling averages for the last 2 and a bit years:

WI in NZ, 18 @ 18.11

India in NZ, 11 @ 23.81

NZ in WI, 11 @ 21.09

NZ v Pak (in UAE), 5 @ 51.40

SL in NZ, 8 @ 29.50

NZ in Eng, 8 @ 49.00

NZ in Aus, 6 @ 60.50

SL in NZ, 13 @ 16.30

For the whole period 80 @ 28.50

I wouldn't say he's lucky to be there, or that he's been a passenger. Quite the opposite really.

Come on Tim, rip it up this series and give all these critics the one fingered salute :good1:

Southee should definitely be there if he is fit. His bowling last year wasn't very good but he has definitely built up enough capital to still be in the side. My only doubt with Southee was whether or not he was fit enough to play.

Interesting fact: in the last 5 tests at the Basin, the captain that has won the toss has bowled first, but none of their teams won the test.

Interesting fact... but who were we playing?

Because as we all know, BMAC pretty much loses every toss.

Yeah overall 28.5 is not bad, but if you take out Sri Lanka who have a batting lineup that consists of Angelo Matthews, then you have 51.4 vs Pakistan, 49 vs England and 60.5 vs Australia in the last year or so.

And as it happens we are playing Australia.

Yep, and when it's a team like Australia in front of him, he tends to struggle.

Look, I don't want to bag Southee too much, he has been very good for us in recent years. But since the CWC his form has been concerning, and we've got an absolute gun in Henry that is not getting any game time. Hesson likes him as a "leader", but if his form doesn't warrant selection then they should not hesitate to give Henry a run.

so he struggles v Aussie, but how much has he bowled to Aussie, in NZ?

Given all the love for Hesson and BMac on here, and ultimately they are the ones making this call, how many times have people been questioning their decisions and as it turns out, Hesson and BMac are pretty much on the money?

My point was more that he's struggled against anyone that is not Sri Lanka.

Doully was saying if you survive the first hour or so on this pitch it will flatten considerably and be a long day in the field.
