@nzzp These are unusual circumstances. I don't know the ins and outs of it either, but if the RUPA agreements cover a percentage of RA's income pie as guaranteed for the player pool, and the pie suddenly shrinks, then what other options are there?

@Tim seems crazy. Is that legal?
Entirely - it forms part of their collective agreement through the player's association.
So, how can they turn down the pay cut? If you're collectively contracted, and the collective decide on a pay cut, don't you go the same way?
Exactly what they've done - you end the contractual relationship.
-
@antipodean OK, that makes sense now.
So walk away. Wonder if there is a notice period that has to play out.
cheers fella

@nzzp yup you can be stood down without pay due to CV, and the gov picks up the wages. But they've refused the gov wages too.
SA were up front and gave everyone 3 weeks to either hand their notice in, or accept cuts. Ozzie and NZ have players unions that negotiator on their behalf, dunno about SA.
That was a deal the Saffa players' unions negotiated, the 21 day clause.

@voodoo what the fuck did i just read? That post would get someone a lot of votes on the "most likely to post drunk" poll
Drunk, or he's been in Oz 30 years and still can't speak English properly ...
I gave up a paragraph in because I really had no idea what he was writing.

He starts a sentence with "And".......which is an error a five year old wouldn't make.
That's the same sort of error people say about split infinitives, ending sentences with a proposition, etc.
And educated people know that.

It sounds like Rodda is pissed off Thorn overlooked him for the Qld captain.
It also sounds like Thorn was right.
TBH these guys are getting some bad advice from their management and should be thinking longer term. So fuck 'em.

Izack Rodda, Harry Hockings and Isaac Lucas have officially parted ways with the Queensland Reds and the group is adamant the Super Rugby franchise had no legal grounds to stand them down after they refused a short-term pay cut.
