Does anyone know if there are any masks available in NZ? I've had a look online but can't see any. I'd really like to wear one when I go out and about to get food. They're proven to make a difference in stopping the spread so I'd like to think the government is organising as many as possible?
The Asian countries that have managed to somewhat contain the virus have issued them to their entire populations.

No provision. I reckon a bunnings style dust mask would work fine. Just a comfort issue

@Baron-Silas-Greenback Moving companies should still be functioning
Nah, they have jumped the shark on that one,. It isnt up to them it is up to the govt and then legal advice. If that company Crown packs up someone and arrives at the new address, and the people at the new address cannot move? Then you have requirement for wot be able to actually settle , lawyers are not considered an essential service.
It is incredibly irresponsible for companies like Crown to make definitive statements like that.

I have access to masks but I'm not sure I will use them. Stay out of the way of other people

The govt has completely and utterly fucked up its step up to stage 4, the guidance is woeful and haphazard, property lawyers and moving companies have no idea what they are legally obligated to do or not do.
people are in major legal and financial jeopardy in regards to not moving house and not being able to offer vacant possession.
Before closing down non essential business the one thing they needed to do was detail exactly what is essential. Idiot govt panicked. In my mind, no matter how they did it, some part would be upsetting and have legal consequence.
I'm happy with how they have dealt with it. It is a massive change for me and I need to sort a lot out but I am happy to believe that the Government is putting our current health foremost and will deal with the financial implications after. They see an opportunity to hopefully get through this with minimal casualties. I think the will happily accept collateral damage in the short term.

Do you know how much you can be potentially liable for not settling? It can 10% per day of sale price.

They have rolled out benefits for employers to support their employees and apparently will announce a raft more today. There will be relief from paying taxes on time according to the IRD, and it is reported that banks will help those struggling at this time. It was never going to be easy, but efforts are being made

Nope. There is no excise for not having a plan for this sort of thing. I am not directly effected, but moving house is one of the most stressful and risky things you can do. People are absolutely shitting it about all of this, and the govt is adding no clarity, even lawyers are contradicting each other.

I have not called any bank or other institution today because I don't want to increase traffic unneccessarily. But considering what I have heard on TV and elsewhere, banks will be sympathetic to people in that situation. I would be very surprised if someone who planned to settle in the next month is defaulted. Especially since estate agents and lawyers are all closed as well

@Baron-Silas-Greenback Lawyers can work from home. Courier companies are still working. Electronic versions are legally acceptable - There are ways around all this.

It isnt the banks it is the new owners. And I know this because my neighbor is liable for 8% of sale price per day.

I am sure it is stressful. There are lots of stressed people in all sorts of situations, but the reality is this thing moved at super speed and many don't have all the answers. We received an email on Sunday evening with major alterations to our scope of practice but we were allowed to continue. 24 hours later we were informed we were having to essentially shut down. All of my staff have questions that I simply could not answer. Tough time all round

So your neighbour is buying, or selling? If someone triggered a clause like that on me I'd be ringing the Herald, Stuff and the TV stations screaming blue murder until the issue was outed. If the government can prevent landlords from hiking rents or evicting tenants they must be able to sort this
