@NTA didn’t everyone say the chiefs were favourites after they beat us.

Not sure. Haven't spoken to everyone 😉

Was a good game from them. But Round 4? Yeah, nah.

    TSF version of Godwin’s law:

“As a thread grows longer, the probability of discussing the RWC failure or Akira Ioane approaches 1”

Latest (UK) odds that I could find for Super Rugby champions 2020 confirm that the Chiefs are no longer the favourites for the title:

    Crusaders 7/4, Chiefs 12/5, Jaguares 9/1, Stormers 9/1, Hurricanes 10/1, Sharks 14/1, Blues 20/1, Brumbies 25/1, Reds 80/1

Chiefs made an error not signing Akira Ioane. A new environment would have done him wonders and his driving play from Number 8 was exactly what the Chiefs missed tonight.

RWC failure seems to haunt Sam Cane and ALB still. Neither fully imposed themselves on this game.

They didn't, but they were also let down by 13 other numpties on the park. Hard to shine when you're swimming in shit.

That first half was so bad they gave themselves two zeros.

Fair effort from the Ponies. Played with a bit of intensity and endeavour.

Landed both in the same post. You get a gold star.

@chchfanatic yes they did after they beat you, they just beat the defending champs so why wouldn’t they be favourites (at that moment)?

Playing in the south of France did nothing for Aaron Cruden's tackling technique. Atrocious efforts.

Been this theory going around as he was injured that a dit DMac would have made all the difference at RWC.

This game reveals that theory to be poke.

Yeah, let's ignore all games that DMac played (including tests) before injury and rate him on this abortion alone.

There were gaping holes in his game when he was good. People accepted them, or at least overlooked them, because of the positive impact his attack had.

He's been decidedly average this year and dogshit in this game. There's no upside to his play.

Defensively he’s always varied between someone who can hammer a big runner in the last line of defence, and at other times can look like a wet bus ticket attached to the end of a turnstile. A very gifted yet mercurial player.

Definitely this. Some of DMac's defence for the ABs has been simply outstanding, other times really average to poor. His attacking stuff is generally top-notch

I want him in and round the AB 23 as he strikes me as a real team player with the X factor and he's a pretty ballsy player for such a little bloke

    Colour me irritated/disappointed bloody annoyed.
Not with the loss so much (then again, maybe) but more the manner in which we lost.
Chiefs have prided themseleves on their D for the 1st 3 games. The D against the Ponies was weak as water non-existent at times
Mistake to rest players travelling well?? Most definitely.
Lack of strategy to change things up?? Absolutely.
I would put the entire squad on notice of hard labour this fuckin week. Bye = Rest? Rest your fuckin arms and legs breaking rocks and hitting tackle bags you lazy farkers 💣

Agreed. People are talking about how good the Brumbies were - not hard to look good when you're consistently going forward and making breaks from poor defence.

A straight line instead of shooters leaving gaping holes and making first up tackles would've resulted in the Brumbies kicking more often, giving some possession to the Chiefs.
