I have a fb log in and can count pn the fingers of one hand how many times Ive posted in the last 2 years. Using both hands I can count how many times I've bothered to look.

I get the shits with people on it all day every day posting crap.

The problem i have is how many people use it as their principal means of communication and expect everybody else does too.

As an example our rugby club president used to use it to publicise stuff by posting on our club account. No issue with that. But if that is the ONLY way you're getting the message out that goes to what? 30 people? When we have 200 on our email list? Well then we are limiting ourselves.

Nobody turned up to your working bee? Who knew about it? Well i put it on fb... so that would be the demographic that traditionally attends working bees ... all 30 of them.

It goes further than that but that is an example.

Will admit to have used it a couple of times in the past week with miss boo jr off at Girl Guide jamboree. But that is another example of communication by facebook when a group email would serve a better purpose. But i won't whinge about that now. :)

BTW Mrs Boo have never had fb. -

Yeah, my wife is studying and she joined the student association so that she would be kept up to date with events and speakers etc, expecting they would be emailing the details. But what do they do? Put everything on Facebook. Except she shuts her Facebook account down while studying as it is an unnecessary distraction. So she misses out on events and speakers that she would have loved to attend :bang_head1:

I facebook up a storm and probably annoy a lot but they can just chop me.

I like it for ideas at times but hate motivational stuff. That's just rubbish.

I like seeing what people have for dinner too or where they are dining out as it gives me ideas to cook and places to avoid or go to.

I'm pretty much everything you whiners dislike about facebook apart from motivating stuff!
-

That facial recognition fright nearly got us to fuck up the brew I was so surprised....... -

I use FB, but I have a rule that I only have 50 friends, I have been at that limit for awhile. If I add someone I have to remove someone else.

Damn that is exclusive, are said friends aware of this rule? Does it make them work harder to stay on the list? Everytime I try to create solid rules for what gets someone ignored or unfriended i end up having to make exceptions for close family or friends going through super tough times so I've just given up trying to control the mayhem -

You are not meant to like Facebook, you are meant to need it. You guys may all hate it but for a lot of people it is difficult to live life without it. A lot of people organise events and only invite people on FB. It also has free messaging. They don't want you to like it; they just want your personal information which most of you probably give to them by liking certain pages.
