    @mariner4life Breakiers still have two to play don't they?

    They appear to have had a game against the Hawks cancelled - so I think they still have to play the Phoenix and the Hawks.

    They need to win both those and hope both the Wildcats and Taipans beat the Bullets and the Taipans also beat Melbourne United.

    If those things don't happen and they end up even on points with either or both of Melbourne and the Bullets - I presume the tiebreaker is points differential.

    Isn't the Hawks game the one that got rained off? It was a win to NZ because they led at the time the game was abandoned

    @canefan Ah - OK. They haven't been credited with the points in the table I'm looking at.

    @Chris-B The Breakers were credited with that win.

    The Breakers have the better Points % but it is close, and Melbourne Utd are still alive. They have a Melbourne derby to end the season so the Phoenix could play spoiler to 2 teams.

    Perth has beaten Brisbane so the Breakers are now in 4th place before the last round.

    I don’t think we are. Brisbane only play one game in the final round and both us and United play 2. So Brisbane are still a game ahead of both Breakers and United, but have a lower points diff.

    United beating Hawks by 20+ has moved their points diff above us.

    So we win both and if the Taipans come to play and beat United and Brisbane, we are in.

    @ACT-Crusader The Breakers only have one game to play. Both us and Brisbane have a 14-13 record but the Breakers have a better Points % (101.55 vs 100.57). If United beat Cairns then they can still finish 4th.

    @ACT-Crusader the abandoned game was a win for us. So what are the permutations? We need to win with a better F/A than Brisbane if we both win, we win and Brisbane loses, or we both lose and we have a better FA? We are playing the second to bottom team, great chance and we really should do the business

    Yep it is. Bullets and Breakers have 1 game each, Melbourne have 2. Easy to see all 3 teams ending on 15 wins.

    So if all 3 end up on the same points who progresses?

    i am not sure of the order of the tie-breakers. The points % and then series? or the other way around?

    The Bullets have the worst points %, but i have no idea how the series have gone.

    Just a word on the Taipans season, we started 0-3, and then at one point we were 2-6. to be 16-10 from there is frankly ridiculous. And to think we dropped two OT games that we really should have won in regulation...

    Melbourne Utd beat the Breakers 2-1 over the season although the Points % across the 3 games is in the Breakers' favour.
    The Breakers have a 3-0 record over the Bullets
    The Bullets beat United 2-1

    From the NBL website:

    #4 – NEW ZEALAND BREAKERS (14-13, 101.6%)
    Remaining fixture: vs South East Melbourne (Friday)

    · A Breakers win on Friday will set a target for the Bullets and United. At present, New Zealand has a six-point advantage over Melbourne and a 23-point advantage over Brisbane
    · The Breakers can win this game and still miss the finals, but can also lose this game and make the finals
    · Whatever happens on Friday, New Zealand will have to sit back over the weekend and wait for other results to learn their fate
    · The best scenario for the Breakers is for Cairns to beat Melbourne on Thursday, New Zealand defeats Phoenix and then hope for Brisbane not beating Cairns by more than around 20-points. If that occurs, New Zealand will be guaranteed a finals place

    #5 – BRISBANE BULLETS (14-13, 100.6%)
    Remaining fixture: vs Cairns (Saturday)

    · With a percentage significantly lower than Breakers and United, the Bullets need to beat Cairns by a healthy margin to have a chance of making the finals
    · A loss to the Taipans will eliminate Brisbane from finals contention
    · The Bullets’ best scenario would be United losing to Cairns on Thursday and the Breakers losing to the Phoenix. If that happens, a Brisbane win by any margin over Cairns will see them make the finals.

    #6 – MELBOURNE UNITED (13-13, 101.8%)
    Remaining fixture: vs Cairns (Thursday), at South East Melbourne (Sunday)

    · Melbourne can set themselves up nicely if they beat Cairns on Thursday. With a healthy percentage, United will have the luxury of knowing exactly what margin they would need to beat the Phoenix by in the final game of the season if New Zealand and/or Brisbane has reached 15 wins
    · If United lose to the Taipans, they can still make it to the finals, but will need to beat the Phoenix on Sunday, while relying rely on the Breakers and Bullets losing their matches
    · All things considered, of the three contenders for fourth, Melbourne have the largest degree of self-control in their own destiny.

    Should two or more teams be tied on Game Winning Percentage at the conclusion of the Regular Season, the below process is followed to determine who holds the higher position on the ladder:

    1. Dividing points “for” by points “against” (Points Percentage);
    2. The win loss ratio in only those games played between the tied teams;
    3. The Points Percentage from games played between the tied teams is calculated;
    4. The team who won the most quarters during the Regular Season;
    5. The team who won the most quarters in the games played between the tied teams;
    6. A barrel draw which is to be conducted in the presence of a protest/appeals member and must be audio/visually recorded.

    Ahh yes the table I looked didn’t have the abandoned game result.

    So Points, then %, then series split.

    Don’t think it will get to the 3rd, so really we just need to win and win biggish.
