Small grounds get dramatic games
Yes. Eden Park and Seddon Park have been the venues for some of the best ODIs/T20s. I remember being at a game at Seddon Park in the early 1990s when a young all-rounder named Jeff Wilson got us home against Aust.

@nzzp not sure why she felt the need to get involved, but wowserism is a common complaint the other way, and if it's a requirement of being a security guard that you give name, rank and serial number when asked, then not giving that information when asked by a media representative is fucking stupid.

as far as I know, security guards are just citizens. They have no more authority to touch, expel or arrest someone as you or I. They don't have ranks.
Sworn police officers, on the other hand, must do this. It's like complaining that the McDonald's employee you're berating (pro tip: similar hourly rate) won't give you their name/number/DOB/etc.
It's not cool not to front that if you're a security guard, but I think most of their power comes from the appearance as 'police lite'.

Depends on the circumstances. Taking enforcement action yes, most other circumstances no.

Not sure how being a media representative gives special authority

If a smug reporter had decided to intervene with me when dealing with someone that clearly and deliberately broke the rules by bringing a fucking hip flask into the ground then I'd tell her where to go as well.
She's embellished the fuck out of that story and left out a number of key details to suit her narrative.

I looked it up, and if they are crowd controller employees, the company has to be licensed and the employees have to wear identification which is plainly visible. Not exactly the same as giving name, rank and serial number if asked, but they also can't hide their ID or not wear it.
Bring a hip flask with alcohol, get booted - pretty simple. Not sure how that's much of a story or why racism was suddenly part of that.
However, hold a license to be a guard of some sort, follow the rules of the licence. Also pretty simple, no matter how much of a Muppet a particular person might be.

Well according to the article, the rent-a-guard was hassling the viewer after the hip flask question was already resolved. Not sure how reliable the account is, has that vibe of an over-eager student stridently trying to win points in a middle school debate.

Meantime...
NZ batting and just picking up the rate after a slow start.
26 for 0 after 6.
-
I feel like we collectively just had a really reasonable attitude to that run-chase. It didn't get helter skelter. It was controlled. It was refreshing. And then Tom Latham went woomph.
-
Lovin' the look of Henry Nicholls - shit hes grown the last two years. Probably put the mockers on now.
-
10 overs, over 5 rpo, no wickets.
Mockers indeed ...
-
no spinners for NZ today, wonder if they were hoping they'd get to bowl first.
-
Chapman considered the spinner?

That was a booboo. Simultaneous posting.

Good platform but we're going to need at least 350 to be competitive today. Defending is a tough ask at Eden Park.
