@mariner4life I said I thought if he was slow going, with the injury etc he'd be traded but that kid is amazing.
His mid-air hand change on the alley-oop at the weekend was just silly. But the stat about his conversion is crazy. He makes 70% of his shots and if he misses he almost certainly gets the follow-up rebound.

I love Zion’s game. He reminds me of a bigger more athletic in his prime Larry Johnson. LJ was a beast particularly when he was at the Hornets.

Mixed with the explosiveness of a young Charles Barkley. He's a physical freak

@ACT-Crusader I can see that comparison. I thought he was a smaller bulkier Shawn Kemp. When I say bulkier I’m talking about Shawn Kemp in his prime not at the end when he resembled Oliver Miller.

@ACT-Crusader I cringe though everytime Lonzo throws the lob......very productive for them but man that increases Zions (re) injury chances 10 fold! I just hope he doesn't just keep throwing them up willy nilly.
What is also amazing is his soft hands around the rim with the put backs and layups. -

The Shawn Kemp comparison isn’t a bad one. Kemp was one of if not the quickest big guy in the NBA during that Sonics time.
One of my top 5 in game dunkers.
-
@ACT-Crusader the 2 hand double pump reverse dunk in the lane is one of the all time dunks. As was that 1 hand tomahawk windmill he threw down on the break over Lister
But Kemp never averaged more than 20ppg and wasn't a creator in any way. Zion is an infinitely better basketball player than Kemp ever was.

Kemp was in a damn good Seattle side and when you’re only getting 12-13 shots a game, you’re not going to average more than 20ppg. GP, Schrempf, Ellis, Eddie Johnson, all got their shots. And that was in a time when teams weren’t putting up the sort of field goal attempts we see today.
I agree the all round game of Zion is better, but the way both attack the rim and the soft hands and finesse for big guys is something both have and at a high level.
Kemp wasn’t shooting 3s in high school or at college (like Zion) and probably was never coached to or had that freedom that has been a feature of the bball landscape over the last 5-10 years at all levels.

@ACT-Crusader Yeah, the stats are all skewed these days with the pace of the game and number of shots. Your last para is super relevant when you think about every single quality shooter of the last 30yrs - guys like Isaiah, Dumars, Ray Allen, Bird, West, MJ (obviously), even guys like Drexler, McGrady, Kobe. The acknowledgement and practice of the 3 ball has changed the game.

And no hand checking has made it easier to score

Mmm, I hear that a lot, but I'm not sure. Go back to the GSW win over Cleveland where Iggy got MVP, and watch the hands on LeBron from Iggy and Draymond. Sure the handcheck rule might have changed, but there is still plenty of reaching and holding allowed in the playoffs.

Yep. Playoff NBA is like a different game. A couple of years ago some diehard did an analysis of the difference in officiating around ‘physicality’ defence and it shows a far more leniency to hand and body checking.

Who you got for the 3pt shootout? Here’s the list.
Duncan Robinson has the effortless shot that is Klay-like. Buddy shoots with minimal elevation/jump and that’s good for a comp like this.
If it was for distance, Dame and Trey would be the hands down final.
The bright lights and hype surrounding the contest can definitely get to some as well.
I’ll be cheering for Buddy.
Damian Lillard
Buddy Hield
Trae Young
Joe Harris
Duncan Robinson
Zach LaVine
Devonte' Graham
Davis Bertans -
Lots of trades today. The curious one is GSW trading Russell to Minny in exchange for Andrew Wiggins. Wiggins has not realised his potential, GS must think they can help get him there.
Marcus Morris and Isiah Thomas traded to the Clippers
Andrew Iguodala traded to the Heat

I've heard whispers that Adams is not a long term NBA player. His body is starting to pack up and it's not just the injuries they are reporting. Hopefully not true.
Clippers and Heat are now as deep as teams can get. I can not remember the last time the top half of the East was as strong as it is now.
