The Atlantic has a link to the Motörhead Facebook page and there's some awesome stories being posted there. My favourite so far is the guy who went out to drink legally for the first time and ended up in the same bar as Lemmy. He told Lemmy it was his birthday do Lemmy ended up shouting him his first drink in a bar .

Fuck. I thought Lemmy was gonna live for ever. Saw the classic Kilminster, Taylor, Clark line-up a few times. Could never hear properly afterwards. I guess we all get Killed by Death in the end!

It will be a sad, sad day when the last of the indestructibles - Keef and Ozzy join him. It's an old cliche but they don't seem to make them like that any more.

Very sad news. I saw Motorhead many times since early 1980s and have the hearing loss to prove it. Pic below I took in the mid-1990s at a show where I'd briefly met him earlier that afternoon. I was in awe and mostly speechless, because what can you say to a living god?

RIP Lemmy.

True. But then gargling razor blades daily takes it's toll on the larynx. So does growling ferociously into a microphone at that ridiculous godforsaken angle Lemmy "sang." Don't forget the Joker.

Somewhere, a teenager in a Motörhead t shirt is asking someone "who is Lemmy?"

Should have mentioned, walking up Queen Street in Auckland in 1985, saw a scraggly lookin' dude with a Motörhead tattoo across his neck/throat.

It was at the same time the coolest and stoopidest tattoo I'd ever seen.

(Presuming he's still alive, maybe some of you fellas have also sighted him?)

Online retailers right now are probably doing a roaring trade in motorhead t-shirts. I was actually thinking about buying one. It's like Germans and Ramones t-shirts, if your into rock music,it feels compulsory to have one as part of your wardrobe.

Ha. Ramones Ts have become a kind of fashion classic that have nothing to do with the band. Also weird to hear their tracks used for many TV ads nowadays. Saw them around the same time as Motörhead - thought they were awesome live.

I would never wear a football/rugby/tour shirt nowadays- but then I'm 49 and I'd look a total bellend in one 🙂

Funny you should say that. I thought the same thing, then I went to see AC/DC in Stockholm this year. The average age at the gig was probably mid 40's, and just about every single one of them was wearing an ac/dc t-shirt. At the time, I didn't think they looked like bellends at all. Crowd mentality, perhaps?

Mind you, Scandinavian acca fans probably have little in common with NZ acca fans. All the guys we chatted to were friendly, nice folks who were genuine fans of the band and music.

Age is irrelevant, if you wanna wear it, wear it! Unless it's a Bieber or One Direction shirt. Then your bellend statement is relevant.

James Hetfield recently claimed his highlight of 2015 was seeing Bieber wearing a Metallica t-shirt.

Beavis & Butt-head knew all about iconic classic black t-shirts. They're timeless.

From the mid-1990s thru the 21st century, you couldn't drive through an Indian reservation in North America without spotting several on everybody from little girls to old geezers; it was almost like loyalty to the Texas Rattlesnake was the Red Man's rebellious middle-finger to Whitey (me). It was a uniform I tells ya.

Oh - to his each own on Ts especially if you are at the gig. I would not choose to wear one down the pub, a Bieber T would be very edgy! If I wore a 1D shirt my daughter would literally disown me if she didn't kill me first.

I recently saw a fat middle aged man out shopping - was wearing a Chelsea shirt with "Lampard" (at least 10 years his junior) emblazoned on the back. Not right I tells ya!

Seems like only yesterday I saw these geezers opening for The Cult in a roller skating rink. If memory serves it was shortly after the ABs won the inaugural RWC, which seems like a century ago. Sadly, I did not have the foresight to bring a camera along to capture the moment. (First act I ever did shoot was Frank Zappa a year later, and only then because I usurped the camera from the official photog who was obliterated falling down drunk. I never did get my hands on the film. Blast 'em!) Axl and Slash seemed in convivial and jovial spirit back then. Mind you, they probably learned a lesson-or-two from Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy, who refused to be interviewed together, presumably, and later confirmed, because they hated each others' guts.
